Internets, I won't miss you while I'm gone

The internet: where someone you like and respect can fret about their privilege and dismiss your struggle in the same breath. Once called on said action, they acknowledge their misstep, then assert that society trumpets your issue and minimizes or mischaracterizes theirs. And I think, "Wait, you just doubled down and you don't even realize it, do you?" Sometimes, you have to just walk away. It's not worth the argument. The issue was a side point in a larger discussion. I need my energy for other things. But man, this sh*t gets old sometimes.

ETA: Man, an hour later and I'm still seething over this. I really need to focus on other stuff.

As it happens, I'll be more-or-less disconnected for the next 5 days. I'm off, a little later this morning, for the Rainforest Writers Village, to focus on writing and rest. I need both, the latter I expect, almost more than the former though it's a close call. I long for a morning unharassed by my cats, much as I love them. I may skip some of the lectures that are being offered. What I want is to write. Maybe draw. Maybe take some pictures. And sleep.
