I think it's nice that you share your experiences with the manicurists. Knowing you, I imagine it is with an attitude of sharing, not bragging. You have a nice way of talkinhg to other people that doesn't imply that they could/should do whatever you have, or have what you have, or even want it. So, I'm glad you converse with the ladies, and I think you should not be embarrassed to relate your travel stories.
The cat sitter, though. Yikes. Oh well, now you know. She might think you're a knucklehead, but she really shouldn't be surprised that you're coming from a different place, and you did have precedent for your assumption because of your previous sitter.
