What I Did On My Summer Vacation: Fannish Version
1. Fell in love with Doctor Who all over again. Well done, team Moffat! Amy still bothers me a a wee bit (much less than in the beginning of the series) but that's only because she reminds me too much of my Oh So Very Teen-Aged son. But that's my issue, I recognize it and own it.
2. Listened to a whopping load of BFA's. One of the few perks of being a car pool queen. Loved, loved, loved the Elizabeth Klein Arc in particularl and am very optimistic about the new 8th Doctor series. Oh, who am I kidding...EIGHT!
3. Had various reactions to Torchwood Series 4 announcements including, but not limited to: !!!!, \0/, *thud* and back to !!!! I can't wait for this. It is going to be a cracked-out ride of AWESOME.
4. Wrote a bunch of stuff for Enlightenment. Of which one piece got snagged as a last minute addition to the upcoming "Time Unincorporated, Vol. 3". The world shall now all be privvy to my unholy love of Grease 2.
5. Fell way, way behind on my DW comics. Ten's run at IDW is coming to a close and I have a fat, juicy stack to take with me on vacation. I hope Tony Lee, et al. won't mind a bit of sand between the pages.
6. Finally caught up on the Doctor Who Confidentials (they've been a bit...mmm...dull this season. There's only so much that Danny Hargreave's hair can do to liven things up!) Noticed a familiar face in the NY crowd and realized it was my niece who cut class to go to the premiere. Good job, niece!
7. Went to my first local DW meet-up. It was a lot of fun and I might have been the geekiest person in the room. Thanks LJ for being ACE in keeping up with the minutiae of fandom. ;-)
8. Watched Sherlock. Loved Sherlock. Want more Sherlock. Is it Sherlock time yet?
9. (Man, I'm really trying hard to get to 10, or maybe even 11)
10. Watched bits and pieces of Buffy Season Five. My heart still catches in my chest whenever I see those familiar faces. Oh, Show...
And finally....
11 (Eleven is cool).
I Registered for Gally!
Anyone else going? (Besides the fab
rarelylynne who was just announced as a guest. Woot!) I am beyond excited.
