Writercon vs. The Economy
The economy sucks and no one is spared. Even Writercon. Our numbers are slightly down from what we originally projected which is totally understandable given that every time you turn on the news it's gloom and doom. Other event organizers are reeling from the same backlash and are dealing with the same issue so, yeah, things are tough all over. However, we are still pushing full steam ahead with our fundraising efforts (Go! Write drabbles at writercon100 to help us secure those pledges!) to help out as many fans as we can and we're also running a registration incentive. If you're already registered and refer another attendee to Writercon, you'll get two free drink tickets, one for you and one for your friend, to be used at either the cocktail party or the hotel bar. Fanfic and cocktails (or your libation of choice) - what could be better?
As an extra incentive, to anyone reading this who's on the fence, if you register and put my name down in the "referred by" field, I will give you * both* drink tickets. I'm not above bribery to bring more of my favorite people to Writercon!
