Vincent had kept the potion as long as he could barely, the sleeping draught was kept in the box under his floorboard, when Friday evening came, he waited aslong as he could before pouring the vial's contents into his uncles tea.
It was miraculous how much effect ir already had and then left the house, to catch the knight bus and to meet Scarlette at the Leaky Cauldron.
All day Friday, Scarlette had been on pins and needles, worried that something would go wrong, that Vincent would get caught or simply change his mind and decide that he didn't want to meet her. As she sat alone at a table in the Leaky Cauldron, doubts and worries soared through her mind.
They all disappeared when she saw Vincent walk in through the front door. She stood and went to meet him, throwing her arms around his neck. It had been less than a week since they'd last seen each other, but it had felt much longer to Scarlette.
"I've missed you," she whispered as she hugged Vincent tightly.
To hear him say that was like heaven to Scarlette's ears. Her smile was ear-to-ear as she pulled back and took his hand, leading him out of the Leaky Cauldron.
"I know where a port key is real close that will take us close to where I live," she explained, starting down the street. Thankfully, the girl had it all worked out in her head. "It's about ten minutes to get to the portkey from here and after that, it's about twenty to get to my mum's house."
Vincent nodded, taking her hand and listening to what she said, "you've got this all planned out" he said with a smirk hiding his anxiousness, his uncle was still knocked out face down on the living room table.
Scarlette felt the suddden shake pulse through him and she looekd up, concerned. "Something the matter?" she asked as they walked farther and farther away from the Leaky Cauldron.
Was he as nervous as she was? Or was he having second thoughts? Scarlette couldn't help but be worried about the whole thing, worried that Vincent would change his mind.
Vincent saw the look on her face and shook his head, "no, just worried bout my uncle a little, thats all...I knocked him out, he wont be going anywhere."
He shivered again slightly on that cold summer night and he wrapped his arm around her, "I'm not worried about tonight if thats what you think..." he murmured
Her worry faded away a little, a tiny amount of it refusing to budge, as she smiled up at Vincent. Scarlette slipped her own arm around his waist and was comfortable against him as they walked.
"Don't worry about your uncle. He'll be out for the entire night. And when he gets up in the morning, he shouldn't suspect a thing."
"My mother goes out every Friday night," she explained, a slight tinge of bitterness in her voice. "And she doesn't come back until the next morning. So, I know that we'll be alone the entire night...."
Scarlette stared forward, chewing down on her bottom lip as they walked. She was growing more and more nervous the closer they got, but she knew that she wanted this more than anything else.
Vincent saw she was nervous, and tightened his hold on her hand, and smiled at her softly, hiding his own nerves for her sake. "Everything will be fine, I promise you" he murmured.
Scarlette simply smiled, but didn't answer him back. Instead, she pointed ahead to an old alley way filled with junk and all sorts of rubbish.
"The portkey's in there," she said, speeding her paces up a bit. Once they turned into the alley, Scarlette had no problem picking out the old peice of wood covered in writing and obsenities.
"Here, on the count of three," Scarlette told him as she pointed. "One, two, three--"
The streets were dimly lit as they walked, hand-in-hand towards her mother's house. It was quiet, with the occasional car passing and the crickets chirping.
"Vincent, tell me a secret of yours, something that you've never told anyone else," Scarlette said randomly.

Scarlette took his hand and led him away from the old and empty hut they'd landed next to.
"Only a little further."
