So I didn't make Cadets. Which, despite all the hours of practice I put in prior to flying out, doesn't surprise me. Music's just not my talent. I'm content to help guide Yamato at the very least as a vet if not in some sort of leadership position. Plus, I get to march w/ Donna. It's something I've wanted to do ever since she started at Chino Hills and I continued at Ayala. I think it'll be an interesting summer...
In other news, Matt is taking me to New York/the East Coast for my 21st/Spring Break. How fortunate that my birthday falls on Spring Break! I've been trying to think of what should be on my itinerary since I've never been there before. Here's what I've got so far:
- Fancy dinner w/ glass of wine or champagne (i.e. my first taste of alcohol)
- StoryCorps session w/ Matt
- watch one of Donna's choir performances (Coincidentally, Chino Hills HS's choir will be on "tour" in NY about the same time.)
- visit Muji
- watch a taping of Conan O'Brien or David Letterman
We want to avoid the super-touristy spots like Times Square. I'm totally down to watch a Broadway show, but I don't know which one I'd want to see. I'm leaning toward any other hallmarks of arts and culture in NY, which I'm sure I've heard of, but don't know off the top of my head. Zoos? Parks? Museums? Something quintessential Big Apple.
Recommendations?
