Update on Dad

Well Dad is still in the hospital.  Tomorrow makes 5 days.  The Dr's today told him if he wasn't better by tomorrow that they would start more aggressive treatment.  That means serious antibiotics.  Not just the kind that should kick regular pneumonia's ass.

Today was a bad day.  He is still scared about his breathing.  My mom decided to stay the night with him.  Anyone who has spent the night at a hospital understands that.  She is basically giving up her sleep for him.  I would be better about that but she isn't completely healthy either.  Then again who is?

I'll be going by the hospital on Tuesday.  Hopefully he will look better than he did on Sunday.  I know he hates being there.  It really is just an amount of time before he gets out.  I have faith that he will be just fine.  Of course it's been hard to convince him of that.

He asked Steffan to bring him a gun the other day.  He was trying to be funny, but he was really annoyed at the nurses.  He said that Mom wouldn't agree to bring his gun to him.  Of course, Steffan didn't offer to bring him one.  Dad has already told Mom that he understood that the 38 would be too much trouble.  He'll be happy to settle for a 22.

Yeah, that about covers where I get my attitude.  Thankfully, that same attitude will get him through this short, little stay in the hospital.  We are looking for him to go home on Thursday.

The great part about this whole thing is that Dad quit smoking.  I"m pretty sure lack of breath had something to do with it.  Now Mom has re-committed to stop.  I think it is completely worth a few days in the hospital for them to quit smoking.  I've begged them for years and nothing else has seemed to work.

I'll let everyone know how this looks tomorrow.
