Left Turn Ahead

The past 3 days have been odd... to say the least.

Not "abducted by aliens" odd or "came into an inheritance" odd... or even "found out I had a third ball" odd. A whole different type of odd.

It's no secret that I am a simple man, vice wise. I enjoy food, TV, movies, comics, video games, alcohol, a little weed now and then, and long periods of sleep.

But for the last few days, I have found it hard to see them as vices. I see them more as chores. Like, I want to watch that show from Friday night, but I don't. I want to fix myself some pasta, but I don't. I want to lay down and sleep for a few hours, but I don't. I'm finding it harder and harder to indulge in any of my usual haunts.

It's like there's nothing that I can think of that I really want or need to do. And I can't figure out why.

Why in the world would I be so disinterested in all the things I usually find to be my break from reality? Why do I view my simple pleasures in the same light as I do my day-to-day job? Why all of a sudden does nothing "do it" for me anymore? Am I so disillusioned? What the hell triggers something like this? If what I have been seeking for the last 27 years of my life doesn't cut it anymore, what am I to look for?

Why do I feel... so lost?
