Words to live by

Jul 18, 2010 22:46

"Those who live by the absurd social construct of blood purity tell us to forget our roots and assimilate. Yet they remind us of our roots constantly with every look of distaste and cruel epithet that falls from their lips. They thrive from our misery and gain pleasure from our pain. Do not let their privilege fool you: without the status quo they are nothing.

We mustn't waste time slicing our skin in the hopes that they will see blood rather than mud run through our veins. To some, we will always be Mudbloods, we will always be filth, and we will never be seen as equals. How, then, do we expect the very people who benefit from our oppression to emancipate us? We Muggle-borns cannot wait for progress, we must demand it."
