our body

is just catching up with the feel of yourself
pushing, slamming
against the white bars of our mangled chest

until we scratch long gouges into the
silver birch arm as red sap swells forth,
a beautiful trickle trickle of a tributary
running into the lake

now circumferencing the floor
our grave
