Back home

Okay, so this is totally plagarized from an email to one of my friends, but what the heck.

I'm back from London. The trip was good, but I felt like crap this morning...figure my body was just saying 'enough already' with the lack of sleep and the time zone changes. I barfed...what's that all about?...and then felt much better. Still not 100% though.

We had good meetings and I didn't get sick of my coworkers completely. :-) We went to a pub on Thursday night and that was fun...good food and apparently good drink, but none for me! There were some cop cars out front blocking off the country road the pub was on due to an accident. They were all so young! I talked to one of them as we waited for our taxi and he laughed at me when I asked him if they carried guns. He said it's much more fun to beat people with the stick instead. :-)

On Friday night a whole gang of us went to an Indian restaurant, and it was amazing. There was so much selection and the food tasted so rich and so good. I really enjoyed it.

On Saturday we went into London, and this was the one time I split from the bigger group - was getting peopled out. Four people went in relatively early and I caught up with two more group members a couple of hours later and we followed them. We went to see Wicked that night and it was excellent. It was kinda weird to know exactly what I was doing in London - having just been there in June so much was familiar, which was good. I would have been pretty freaked out to have never been there before.

I hung out with some of the Airliners guys on Sunday - they were having a meet at a pub near Heathrow, which Steve and I had gone to in June as well. That was good dorky fun. :-)

Then caught my flight home, which was long, and did not sleep so I could be sure to get good sleep last night. Great in theory, but my body wasn't too keen on it. :-)

Now I'm back and have no trips until next week. :-)

Oh, and the lack of alcohol is going well so far...what, 10 days in?

Now to write a bit more. We stayed in a town about like 20 miles west of London, called Bracknell. It actually kinda reminded me of Thunder Bay in a way. The city center was a bit shabby and the shops were very middle-class. It felt very much like Keskus mall was in TBay.

I had a heck of a time with the time change. I only slept a bit on the way over, and got to bed at a reasonable hour the first night there. Problem was, I woke up at 4 am. I actually had a microsleep or two in our meeting on Thursday afternoon. I finally had to sneak out and get some pop so I could caffeinate.

I met our coworkers in the UK and totally hit it off with one of them. That was very cool.

The no-booze thing is going well so far. I have had no trouble refusing to drink.

Oh, and before anybody asks, I am NOT pregnant, not planning to be, and not wanting to be.

I have a couple more trips coming up and then I hope to be done for the year. I have to do benefits presentations to an acquired company in Nashua, New Hampshire and Ohatchee, Alabama. These are a week apart so it'll be two separate trips - across the country. Oh well. I will be Alaska MVP Gold by the end of that. Hopefully that will give me more upgrades next year.

I think that is about it for now.
