This is much more like it. The last week has been quite pleasant. I'm now off work until January 2 and so is Steve. We haven't been doing very much except finishing getting ready for Christmas and planning our New Year's Eve party. It is really nice to relax.
We went to the Seattle Men's Chorus concert downtown last night. They are a gay men's chorus and the show was as fabulous as one would expect. I really enjoyed it - so much so that we signed up for tickets for the rest of their season.
Next week we are going to go cross-country skiing one day. We no longer have a car suitable for going to the mountains but there is a shuttle bus from Sultan, which is only 20 miles from us, up to Stevens Pass. I'm really looking forward to that. We went last year - or was it the year before? - and we had a lot of fun. I skiied a lot when I was a kid, in the park in my backyard, and I was surprised at how quickly it came back to me. Steve had a bit of trouble but did pretty well.
I think we are going to help with junior state playdowns next weekend too. I'll time and Steve will do some online scoring. Not sure exactly when yet.
I am trying to find something online. Every Christmas Eve there was a broadcast on CBC Radio of Alan Maitland reading Fredrick Forsyth's short story, The Shepherd. We listened to that every year and it brings back good Christmas memories. I will see if I can find out when it will be on tomorrow.
I am going to make shortbread cookies tonight, plus gingerbread cookie dough. Then, I'll make the gingerbread cookies tomorrow. That will be nice.
