Why I'm Less Disappointed With Doctor Who Than You Are

May 01, 2007 16:12

Recently my Friends page has been spammed to the hilt with people complaining about the new series of Doctor Who. I'll admit, Doctor Who does SEEM to be complete rubbish but frankly it always HAS. And even though I was shouting at my TV, along with the rest of you...I've now sat down and compared Doctor Who to my own life and come to the conclusion ( Read more... )

It is TV people...no, those character aren't real...seriously!

I quite enjoy the new Dr. Who, far more than the older ones. And I have recently given those ones a second chance while watching BBC Kids. Those ones are full of overacting and fake looking critters and yet people are rabid for them...I don't quite understand that.

Well, when the actors are having a grand old time, it makes it much easy to watch. Scarf Doctor and Beige Clothes Doctor were always 'WHEE SHINY THINGS' and the actors meant it.

So far I have only seen the Dr. whose must wear curlers for that hair and the one with the questions marks all over him. I keep hoping for the Dr. who also played the playboy brother to the older vet on the James Herriot series. I have not stopped giving them chances as yet. :D

I've mentioned this in a comment before, but...I don't think you CAN really be a fan of Doctor Who without taking on baord a far amount of cheesiness. It'd be like enjoying Joss Whedon except for all the vampires and spaceships. The writers of WHo take a lot of risks, every episode. Hell, even resuscitating a fifty-year old show most people thought was creatively bankrupt was a big risk in itself. It's the nature of risks that some of them fail, but I'd rather watch a dud episode every now and again than turn on the TV knowing exactly what to expect. If I wanted that I'd buy a box set of Friends DVDs.

Actually, you made a post with a very similar sentiment to this, didn't you? It's a KIDS' programme, after all. Heh.

Torchwood is CRAP but I still enjoyed it (until the characters became people I didn't like as much).

I have yet to see any Torchwood. I dunno. I was never as in love with Captain Jack as everyone else, so I didn't have much incentive to seek it out, and as far as I know it hasn't been aired on TV over here. Maybe when it is, I'll give it a shot.

Just reminds me of Angel, and I never gave much of a crap to see that either.

I couldn't agree more. I almost died in two seperate hay-related church events. I almost froze to death in Chicago. My sister stole the car. My other sister and her friend were lost in a nature preserve for hours. I think I pissed off NASA.

Hay related church events--that sounds very dangerous.

I solve all of my life's problems with a power screw driver/drill. Really it solves everything.
