I'd just been happy that we'd had a conversation without ending up at each other's throats, which I honestly wouldn't have minded so much except that she always wins. As far as I knew it was just an ordinary damn music box! I'd intended to give it to her for her birthday, but lost it - I just found it recently as I was cleaning up because we had a new roommate. It must have gotten switched for the enchanted one at some point.
... Though I'm not sure why I never connected it with that headache. She always gets them when something affects her mind that way - I made the mistake once, long ago, of trying to read her thoughts.
There was no reason to think it was! I tend to assume that things that aren't enchanted the first time I have them still aren't if I didn't do it myself. Especially in this place where I don't usually have to worry about people trying to kill me. I had no reason to think that someone would have decided to sneak into my room and plant a thrice-cursed memory-altering music box!
Either you would have thought of the possibility at the mentioning of the bard, especially with TIMING, or you would have, I dunno, NOTICED A MAGIC AURA AROUND THE BOX?!
I can't see magic auras unaided, goddess. You need a spell for that. And as I recall, I was the one who mentioned the possibility of a bard, because I was explaining how I couldn't have done it! Have you considered that occasionally the ability to have moments of stupidity includes me?
She remembers me attacking her, or she remembers me giving her the box? It isn't the same thing. And as I didn't attack her, if she does remember me attacking her, then I'd say the magic is still affecting her memories.
... There's really no way to convince you of my innocence, is there? I'll admit to letting my guard down - I have no reason to keep it up. As I've said before, no one wants me dead badly enough to do something about it under normal circumstances, and as most of the captives here have the same rank - namely none - I've no reason to engage in a power struggle, either. The issues involving my views towards Mercury are my affair and mine only, as I haven't been stupid enough to try to act on them since that fiasco on Valentine's Day.
Also, you forget I'm a male drow, goddess. Being a pawn isn't exactly a new experience for me. It just isn't usually unwitting. And you seem to be drastically overestimating my levels of common sense, or those of sentient creatures in general.
It's not levels of COMMON SENSE! It's the most basic of ANY INTELLIGENCE!
Mercury loses her memories after you give her a music box. We talk about how a bard has spells to alter memory. I say THERE'S A BARD! And not ONCE DO YOU THINK THE MUSIC BOX DID ANYTHING?!
Like I said, you're either braindead, and therefore couldn't be any good as a magic user, or a liar.
*derisive laugh* Have you interacted with anyone outside your immediate circle of friends recently, goddess? Incredible flashes of stupidity aren't that uncommon. I've known people who'll count to twenty and skip the number fourteen three times in four before they notice anything odd.
Besides, I'd hardly be a very good liar if you saw through it that easily, would I?

I SAID a bard did it. YOU SAID A BARD COULD DO IT!
YOU NEVER THOUGHT THAT MAYBE THE MUSIC BOX YOU HAD AROUND HER TOOK HER MEMORIES WITH THOSE HINTS?!
YOU'RE EITHER BRAINDEAD OR LYING!

EITHER WAY, YOU WOULD HAVE FIGURED OUT THE BOX WAS MAGIC!

And Mercury REMEMBERS YOU ATTACKING HER!

YES! THAT'S WHAT SHE MEANT BY ATTACKING HER! YOU GAVE HER THE BOX!

So, tell me.
If you were struck with so much stupidity then, how can you say you're argument is worth anything?
