[Locked to Azula, Pharaun, and all Sailor Moon characters, except Mercury and Kunzite.]All right, I'm sure some of you have noticed that Mercury's memories has been altered. Considering there isn't rampant memory loss, I'm guessing it's something just made towards her ( Read more... )

I can think of many people with a reason to do something like this. As for capacity...

... I don't doubt some of Mercury's other friends will suggest I did this, but I assure you that there is no spell I am capable of casting that can modify memories.

Others, I'm not sure. I don't know entirely what those of her world are capable of - the ways I know to gauge a magic-user's power are inefficient for those of other worlds.

I'm well aware that I haven't gone out of my way to endear myself to Mercury's friends, goddess.

You may peruse my spellbook if you like, since I know you do not cast spells in the same way that I do. I am restricted to preparing the spells set down there - a limitation of my form of magic.

True, but there's still the possibility.

Oh? How could I tamper with Mercury's memories when I don't have a spell that can do so? I doubt I could requisition an item to do it for me from the Indigeo.

Altering spells or ones memorized. Magic can be quite versatile, depending.

I don't think you fully understand. If I wish to alter a spell, I must do it when I decide which spells to memorize for a given day. And no spell I know can be altered enough to erase someone's memories of a specific person.

Every spell I can cast is in that spellbook. Feel free to search my quarters if you like; I assure you you'll find no scroll with such a spell on it. A bard, one who works magic through music, might be able to alter memories; I cannot.

And if this was planned, you could do that.

And I'll come take a look.

Altering a spell that much is the same as creating an original spell - which takes weeks, if not months, of research and testing. You saw how much trouble I got into for simply enchanting a weapon; what makes you think I'd be able to make a new spell, even if I could get the equipment necessary from the Indigeo? And I doubt I could do that.

Very well, then, I'll be waiting.

You've been here longer than I have. You've had that time.

Fine.

To create a magic item, one must be able to imbue it with the spells that give it its effects. We've run into the "don't have a memory modification spell" barrier again.

You mentioned a bard could use spells like that.

Quite ironic you thought of that right away, isn't it?

Oh? What do you mean?

They're the only spellcasters I know of that can. Psionicists could, too, I suppose, but if I had those sorts of powers I'd not get into nearly so much trouble. Besides, psionics aren't, strictly speaking, magical in nature.

The fact I know who cast the spell.
