You know what, measure 36 is stupid. I personally think that gay people have as much right as straight to bask in the lovliness/horror of marriage as much as anybody else. Since when can't a person marry who they want because they are the same sex? I mean, a long time ago a black person couldn't marry a white person, and vice versa. That was a BIG deal back when that was finally allowed, and now there are only a few who still feel it is wrong. I believe that the freedom of the persuit of happiness applies to every person, and if it makes a guy happy to marry another guy, then we should let them be happy.
Some people say it makes a mockery of marriage, or that marriage is for the procuring of a child, but I don't think so. Marriage is the union of two people, of two families, of two hearts, and that is it. A lot of gay couples adopt, and without these wonderful people who couldn't have children naturally some children would die. And what about the married STRAIGHT couples who adopt because they can't have children. Then their marriage wasn't to make a child, and if you believe that nonsense, then that couples marriage would be for nothing.
I tell a lot of homophobes that just because a man marries a man, or a woman marries a woman, doesn't mean they have to marry someone of the same sex. That is what is wonderful about that little clause in the constitution that goes a little like this, "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. . ." That means, whatever makes a person happy, they are free to do it unless it harms someone else. How on earth does the fact that two guys or two women these people DONT EVEN KNOW got married, hurt the homophobe? I rest my case.
