Woo! It's been a while since I've updated.
I went camping up at Devil's Lake this past weekend and it was awesome. The people I went camping with are the kind who never get tired, which was good and bad. It was good because we almost never ran out of stuff to do, but it was bad because by the end of the weekend I was dead tired and sore all over. It also didn't help that I barely got any sleep (bare ground is not comfortable) and I had communists in the fun house the second day we were out there. Aside from that though, it was a great vacation. Northern Wisconsin is a tremendously scenic area with tons of natural rock formations, open fields, and unspoiled wilderness. I have so many pictures and I'll have to post them in my next blog.
Also, I got a compliment at work today. I was working in the men's department and a guy came up to me and asked if I had any more of a specific pair of dress pants. I answer questions like this every day, so it wasn't anything out of the ordinary and (as far as I know) I treated him like every other customer. I checked to see if we had any more, then I went back to the stock room and got them for him. He thanked me and left. A few minutes later, my manager paged me (over the walkies that all the employees wear) and told me that a customer had complimented my service, said I was very sweet, and that I went "above and beyond" basic service.
That comment kept me smiling for the rest of the night, and I even almost started tearing up. I've worked at Kohl's for a year and no one has ever told a manager that I've provided great customer service. I know it sounds silly, but working in retail is an extremely unforgiving job. All you do all day is clean up after people who generally take no notice of you, and when you do do something nice for them they either brush it off or just give a vague thank you and leave. It's nice to be appreciated :)
I am watching Star Trek The Next Generation. It makes me fangirl spasm.
