1. Hnrrrgh Misfits S2 is going to be broadcast in November. I can't wait that long.

2. I started to read Dexter in the Dark EDIT: Darkly Dreaming Dexter, god damn confusing twee ass titles. Then I checked the series on Wikipedia and saw that
the Dark Passenger had a supernatural explanation,
so I ragequit. It's a good job that I didn't have the ( Read more... )

I am amazed you got that far in the series. I couldn't take Dexter repeating himself all the time and every villain being out of the serial killer stereotype handbook in Book 1.

Actually, I'm a huge dork: I meant to say that I started to read Darkly Dreaming Dexter, NOT Dexter in the Dark, but I got the two mixed up because the titles are so similar. So I've just half-read the first book - I didn't get that far, and then I spoiled myself on Wikipedia.

But yeah. The book kinda sucked. I was going to write a big gripey post about it when I'd finished it, but now I have no desire to do so.

I also should mention the audiobook broke the CD player in my old car, just while I'm bitter. XD

Ugh, now I checked the wikipedia page. The author would think of an explanation that stupid.

Yeah, I was disappointed with the books too. And I stopped watching halfway through the third series, I went and spoiled myself about his friend and ended up not wanting to watch the train wreck.

I liked the TV series but I only half followed it because I'm really bad at catching shows as they're broadcast, so I missed a lot of stuff. (I was considering getting them on DVD, but I suspected that I might get bored after the second season or so.) What, in particular, made you ragequit, if you don't mind me asking?

(SPOILERS)In last season's finale, Dexter's wife Rita was murdered by another serial killer (Miami is apparently the Serial Killer Capital of the World). It was very Women in Refrigerators ("let's kill a woman to make a man angst!"), and I raged. (END SPOILERS)

I should not lol. (Actually, I remember liking Rita. :/)

That's another thing that got me: at one point in the book, Dexter is like, 'I can't let the cops catch all of the serial killers, otherwise I won't be able to have a hobby, la la la.' I'd like to assume that he was being sarcastic, but...

DUDE HOW MANY SERIAL KILLERS CAN THERE BE?

Not that, y'know, I was expecting realism or anything. :( I got the impression that Lindsay just thought, 'hay wouldn't it be cool if there was a serial killer who killed serial killers,' and kinda fudged everything from there.

Yeah, when I heard about that particular spoiler, I made a WTF face too. I've never bothered trying to read the books, though, because no one I've ever talked to seems to like them.

Yeah - after the TV series, they're kind of a let-down. They probably seem worse for the fact that the TV series was so good in comparison.
