Author: scarlet_angel03
Pairing: Akame
Rating: PG
Genre: Angst, Drama, Fluff
Author’s Notes: One-shot. The plot just suddenly came up to me while watching Kurosagi with the episode of the jeweler. This fic somehow revolves around Akame’s similar rings and Akame of course. Hope you like it! Thanks for reading. Ü
Summary: Kazuya bought the rings just for fun. He was young and childish back then and just decided to give one to his best friend, Jin Akanishi. They kept on wearing it everyday until Kazuya thought the other stopped wearing it intentionally, he started realizing how much meaning and value and memories it already had on both of them.

-

Kazuya was never the vocal type.

And because of that he had been recognized as one of the most promising actors on cam. Each achievement he has now mirrors the hard work he made ever since he started working as an entertainer. In truth, he was never expecting to be like this. He wanted to act and sing, but not be a star.

But now, everybody knew how much every thing that has been assigned to him was important for him; so important that it made him somehow distant to the matters which may really be important apart from his endless work.

He changed.

When he was young, he only cared about his family, Jin Akanishi, his friends, baseball, Jin Akanishi, his education a bit, and Jin Akanishi.

Everybody knew how much he loved baseball.

He loved it so much that he never wanted to give it up. But in the end, he did.

Because in the end, he found something much more interesting.

Jin Akanishi.

People believed they were really inseparable, like Kazuya was inseparable with baseball before. They were always together and Johnny used it because it looked good on TV and it looked good for everyone else.

Jin and Kazuya thought it was really fate, added with some luck, that they managed to be together ever since they met each other at the building. Kazuya thought the other was crazy just casually walking up to him like that but in the end, Kazuya thought, it wasn’t so bad after all.

Kazuya bought the rings one day. It meant nothing to him, at the least. He was just fascinated with the simple yet elegant design that it adores. He was lucky that time because he bought it with a bargain. He could buy one full price and then buy another one with half price. He was happy about it and told it to his best friend.

“Aren’t they pretty?” Kazuya asked Jin one day when they were young. Jin nodded in agreement and was also mesmerized by their beauty.

“They indeed are. You must be really rich to buy two,” Jin teased. Kazuya just chuckled and shook his head. “No, silly. I got it for a bargain. I could buy one and then buy another one with half its price.” Kazuya explained.

“Wow, that’s amazing! I wish I could’ve come with you so I could buy one too.” Jin pouted.

Kazuya thought about this for a moment and smiled. “Hm…Tell you what, you could have the other since I don’t really need two anyway,” He shrugged. “Really?” Jin beamed. “I mean, are you sure it’s okay? You bought it for yourself in the first place.” Kazuya shook his head. “Don’t worry, it’s fine. You can have it; this one’s bigger than my pinky size anyway. It’s yours,” He said as he placed the other ring on Jin’s palm and used his own hand to close Jin’s hand into a first tightly.

He took his own ring and placed it into his left pinky finger. “See?” He mused.

Jin smiled widely as he got his new ring and placed it into his right pinky. “Now, we match!” He said and both young boys chuckled; their rings shining brightly under the sun.

-

Since that day, they wore it each day whether they’re together or not, at work or just lounging at home or enjoying each day’s off. Nobody noticed the silent promise they made on keeping the rings until of course they told it to the others.

“See Ueda-kun? I and Kazu-chan have matching rings! It’s cool, huh?” Jin grinned one day, showing off to his band leader. Ueda just looked at him expressionless and said; “Congratulations, you two are married,” Jin blinked at this and shook his head. “It’s not like that Tat-chan! It just means Kazu-chan and I would be friends forever~” He sing-sang and went to brag to someone else.

Kazuya, however, smiled deeply inside as he heard his best friend announce this kind of promise to the others. Of course he could hear Jin say it to each close person he had because the other was dragging him with him in the first place!

-

“Okay Kamenashi-san, you could wear this as a prop on your left pinky finger,” The director said as he gave Kazuya another ring so that it could match their costume. “Eh? Do I really have to?” Kazuya whined. “Of course, everyone’s gonna wear it,” The director replied and the other fumed.

Jin saw Kazuya pouting and walked to him at once. “What’s wrong?” He asked worriedly. Kazuya looked at him with a frowning face and said, “The Director wants me to wear this at my left pinky finger,”-he raised the ring that the Director gave him-“but my real pinky ring is there, it won’t feel the same.” He continued to whine.

Jin pondered about this for a moment until an idea struck him.

“Oh yeah, I almost forgot! I knew these situations would happen so here,” Jin smiled as he got from his jeans pocket a pair of simple silver necklace chains. Kazuya blinked at him. “What’re those for?” Jin got his own pinky ring, looped one of the chains around it and placed it around his neck. “See? So that we won’t worry about losing it or not wearing it anymore,” He beamed. “Here, I’ll do it for you,” He got the other’s ring, looped it with another chain like his and encircled it around his friend’s neck.

“How does it feel?” He grinned. “Cold,” Kazuya pouted but still smiled. “Thanks Jin,”

Jin shook his head. “I’m sorry if this is all I can give you this time. This was all I could afford so I still hope you like it,” He grinned. Kazuya smiled. “Of course I like it! I don’t care how much this cost, thanks Jin.”

“Okay Juniors, time for rehearsal with KinKi Kids!” the Director announced.

Kazuya then placed his prop ring on his left pinky finger and never felt happier than before.

-

Years passed and both struggled to still continue wearing their rings. Each had a promise to themselves that they would be the only ones to wear it and won’t let anybody else touch it nor wear it.

They can’t be together like that; people are already mistaking their relationship for something higher.

Johnny thought of it like this. No matter how much money their paring makes, the Head of the entertainment still can’t tolerate it like that.

And so they need to be separated for how long.

-

“KAT-TUN would debut together, okay?”

Each member promised this to one another after being together for so many years. Everyone agreed and no one expected other things to happen. They were having fun even as juniors. They enjoyed their times at Shounen Club and enjoyed performing as back dancers for their various senpais. They didn’t know that something would be in the way of their promise of actually debuting together.

-

“Okay, so it’s decided that Kamenashi Kazuya from KAT-TUN will play Kiritani Shuuji, right?” They were all talking about it. The directors and producers of Nobuta wo Produce did. “Oh, that guy’s talented, I hear. Since he’s going to play with Yamashita, they’re just going to perform their single together.” Another guy said and everyone else agreed.

“You’d be great, Kame.” Jin said softly one night as he and his friend were lounging alone in their dressing room. “You’re going to work with Yamapi and that’ll be really great!” He urged the other to pursue this given drama ignoring the slight pain that he was actually feeling. He heard about him and Yamapi also having to sing the theme song for the said drama, and that means something debuting first. Debuting first and breaking their band’s promise. Debuting first and somehow also breaking or deteriorating his friendship with others.

“But, it won’t be the same if you guys weren’t there and…debut with me,” Kazuya said with the same soft tone. He sighed. Neither knew what to say and awkward silence echoed around the room. Fortunately, their other band mates came and the tense feeling slowly left.

When the day ended and everybody left the room, Jin was the only one left and it left him to ponder about his discussion with his closest band mate. Are we becoming…distant, Kame? He lay down the sofa and stared at the ceiling. Minutes later, he felt himself raise his right hand and smiled sadly as he saw his right pinky ring shining because of the room’s light.

I guess we’ve always been so distant in the form of closeness, Kame.

And proceeded to take the ring off.

Nobuta wo Produce was a complete success and everybody cheered and congratulated everyone for it. Parties, celebrations, promotions and debuts came after that.

Promotions for Shuji to Akira and a debut for Kamenashi Kazuya.

It seemed that not everyone was happy about it and Kazuya never realized this. His own band mates were not much happy about it.

-

“Ah Jin, good morning!” Kazuya greeted one day when he entered their KAT-TUN dressing room. He thought that he was pretty early but it made him happy that Jin, whom he thought was still close to him, was already there. “And I thought you were always the late one,” He chuckled. He placed his bag down and went to the couch and smiled.

Jin didn’t greet him back or anything. He just stared at him emotionless with a cup of coffee in his hand. Kazuya blinked at this and still smiled and said, “Well don’t just stand there, come on and sit and talk with me.” He assured and Jin just obeyed and went to sit across his band mate.

“So…” Kazuya started.

“So, congratulations on the success of your drama,” Jin said still clutching to his mug and still no emotion on his face. Kazuya grinned after hearing his friend talk. “Yeah, it was really cool! We were all enjoying and partying and stuff,” He said. He noticed his friend seemed uneasy with it and tried to change the subject. He looked around until his eyes dawned upon Jin’s right pinky.

“You’re not wearing it…” Kazuya said sadly. Jin perked up at this and asked, “Wearing what?” Kazuya motioned to the other’s right pinky and Jin knew this meaning. “Why aren’t you?” Jin threw back this question at Kazuya. “I…Um…The costume designer never allowed me to,” Jin glared at him and angrily put his mug down. “So? Are we in your freaking drama set now, huh? Don’t ask me something that you won’t also have any excuse for not wearing it, Kamenashi.”

Kazuya didn’t know what’s going on so he just placed himself in level with Jin. “What the heck is your problem, Akanishi?! As if I had a choice! You’re the one who pushed me and encouraged me into pursuing that drama in the first place! Telling me it’s a great chance and stuff!” He yelled angrily.

And this wasn’t about the rings anymore.

Just in time, the other KAT-TUN members came and was greeted by the arguing band mates.

“Then what did you want me to tell you then, huh? As if you would even back out if I told you to!” Jin yelled back.

“You would have at least tried to tell me because I would have considered it when you tell me that you guys aren’t comfortable with me debuting first!” Kazuya shot.

“Are you a robot, Kamenashi? You’re just expecting us to tell you what to do?! You’re the one who has problems! Heck even Taguchi was uneasy about it but he keeps on telling us that you’ll soon come to your senses or even apologize for being so insensitive!” Junno’s eyes widened at this and he looked away.

“All this time…” Kazuya started and lowered down his voice and his head as his shoulders shook. “All this time I thought that…”

“That what? That’s it’s okay for you to just go on and be selfish?” Jin snapped.

“No!” Kazuya shot back as he finally raised his head and tears welled down his eyes. “All this time I thought that you guys would be the most understanding and supportive! That’s why…That’s why I worked so hard because I knew I was carrying our band name and I had to look well not only for myself but for you guys as well!” He explained, sniffling through the end and wiping his tears after that.

“Tch,” Jin looked away, still angry. “You’ve always been a great actor so quit it, Kamenashi.” With these words that hurt Kazuya, the latter stormed out of the room and left for the day.

“Kame!” Nakamaru called but Jin stopped him. “Leave him, I bet he’s got a lot of thinking and reflecting to do,” Everybody silenced after this and went to do their own things silently.

Jin sighed heavily and ran his hand through his head as he plopped down the couch.

Screw this.

-

That was it. They were finally going to debut as KAT-TUN. With their single Real Face being released, everyone tried to feel happy as to make a good impression in front of the camera. Still, the cold war between Kazuya and Jin continued and everyone was getting tired of it.

That Kamenashi, I don’t understand him at all.

This was what Jin answered at the interview of what he thinks about each KAT-TUN member. Everybody was worried but they still felt that the lead singers of the said band would also make up by themselves.

And they were all glad they did.

-

Kazuya was lying on his bed and reflected how his life had finally been. He was busier than usual, doesn’t have much private time and was mostly followed around by the media.

When would I get use to this?

He rolled to his side of the bed and saw that on his dresser was something that he never took off after he placed it there. There, on his mirror attached a picture of Jin and himself all smiles and young. It was the time they both went together to Okinawa. Both of them were happy that they had each other to accompany with. It was also that time that after 3 days ago Kazuya gave him the ring.

His eyes widened at that thought and suddenly rummaged around his table drawers to look for something that meant so much to him. And was once had meant so much for him and Jin both.

His pinky ring.

He gave out a satisfied breathe once he found it. He walked back towards his bed and stared at the ring with the chain still attached to it. This time, he reflected on how his life and Jin’s life have been…ever since they were together.

-

“Akanishi-kun, can you come over tonight?” Kazuya asked unsurely as he tried to call the other several times but he was the one who always back out at the first ring.

“Kame…” Jin said and paused. Kazuya bit his life hoping for a positive answer until Jin said, “Sure, I’ll be there around 8. Is that okay?” He asked back and Kazuya agreed at the said time.

This time, Kazuya assures, this time he’s going to make things right.

-

Kazuya was channel surfing when the doorbell rang showing his awaited guest. “Good evening,” He greeted as Jin was standing at the other’s porch. Jin smiled embarrassed and said, “Good evening, sorry I’m late.” Kazuya blinked at this and wondered. He was late? He looked at his clock and saw that it was already 8:30 in the evening.

“Don’t worry, come in.” Kazuya smiled a little and opened his door wide to let his guest enter. “You can sit in the couch first; I’ll get us something to drink.” He added and left for the kitchen after Jin settled down.

When he came back, he came back surprised because he heard something break and saw Jin had broken his flower vase!

“Jin…” Kazuya whispered softly as he placed the pitcher and the two glasses down the table and ran fast to Jin and helped him. There, Jin was running his hand through his hair and swiftly tried to clean his mess us.

“Ah! I’m sorry, I’m really sorry, Kamenashi! It was an accident!” Jin apologized to his host many times and bowed as well.

Kazuya found this quite funny and didn’t realize that he was already laughing loudly. Jin noticed this and smiled to himself. “It’s okay, Akanishi. I’ll take care of this,” He said but Jin tried to disagree but in the end, Kazuya won the little argument.

Like he always do.

After cleaning the previous mess, both men sat at Kazuya’s couch and grabbed themselves some tea.

“So why’d you ask me here?” Jin asked staring at the TV in front of him not really watching.

“Oh…Um…I’ve been thinking, it’s about this…” Kazuya stuttered making Jin look at him as the other took out his pinky ring from his pocket. Jin eyes widened at this. “You kept it,” Kazuya nodded shyly.

“I thought about it the other night and remembered how stupid we looked before when we were wearing this together and were always together before,” Kazuya smirked as he also turned his attention to the TV.

Jin was listening very well and quite took what the other said as an insult. “You felt stupid? You were the one who gave it in the first place,” He pouted mentally.

“No! I don’t mean it like that; I just thought that it was a really nice time before. But everything seemed to change now, huh?” Kazuya chuckled.

“What are you saying? You were the only one who changed, Kazu-cha…Kamenashi!” Jin said but in the end ended up to call the other by the nickname he always calls him before.

Kazuya noticed this and grinned and began teasing. “Oh yeah? How am I sure you also haven’t changed? Prove it to me that you’re still doing what you’ve always done before.” He teased. “And you just called me Kazu-chan again, Bakanishi!”

Jin blushed embarrassed. “Idiot. I did not! And I’ll prove to you that there’s one thing that hasn’t changed to me ever since!”

Kazuya raised a brow. “What is that?” He suddenly gasped as Jin took out from his neck the same pinky ring necklace. “You…How did you…? No. You’re lying! When we…argued before after Nobuta wo Produce…You weren’t wearing it on your finger!” He gasped eyes wide in shock.

Jin chuckled. “That’s because you only looked at my pinky finger, stupid. I was wearing it around my neck at that time.” He grinned. Kazuya frowned at this. “No, you weren’t.” Jin smirked. “How would you know? I was wearing a scarf that time and this ring was really around my neck the whole time! Ask Ueda, he saw it.”

Kazuya bowed his head while Jin was still laughing. “I’m sorry,” Jin stopped laughing once he heard this. “What?” He confirmed.

“I’m sorry…for everything. I’m sorry if I changed, if I fought with you many times and had been so insensitive. Jin I-“ Jin cut him and surprised him by embracing him. “Don’t worry about it. It was all in the past, I’m sorry too, for the times I’ve been thinking about myself all the time.” He apologized as well. “Jin you never-“ “Don’t deny it, Ka-zu-chan, you know there were times like those…” And Kazuya just nodded.

He just let himself be embraced until he himself wrapped his arms around the other. “Jin,” He called. “Hm?” The other asked burying his head onto Kazuya’s shoulder and neck.

“I missed you. So much.” Kazuya said shyly, in the end wishing that Jin never heard it and blushed.

Jin smiled at this. “I missed us…so much. I guess that ring was really special,” He said and embraced the other tighter.

They were like that until the thunder roared and heavy rain suddenly came. Kazuya gasped at this and exclaimed, “Oh no! I left my laundry outside! It’s going to get wet again!” He ran out of his backyard and tried to save his laundry. “Jin, help me!!” He called and Jin chuckled at this.

“He’s still the same childish Kazuya, all right,” Jin chuckled and raced to the backyard but not to save the laundry, but the other person who was trying to save his laundry.

“Jiiiin! Where are you? Help me!” Kazuya called between his breaths and. “AH!” He yelped in surprise when somebody embraced him from behind and the attacker said, “You’ll never save them in time, but I can save you in time,” Kazuya childishly grinned.

“Oh come on, ahh-“ They both slipped from a small puddle while Kazuya was struggling from his attacker.

Kazuya pouted. “Now we’re both soaked and wet and dirty,” Jin just laughed at this and said, “Be happy. I gave you the chance to prove yourself that you still haven’t changed.” Kazuya blinked at this and asked how. “You’re still childish, Ka-zu-chaaan~” And Kazuya couldn’t agree more as they kept on running around the lawn under the heavy rain. Their rings both sparkling despite the dark sky and Jin can’t figure out when the other had a time to wear his.

-

“Jin?”

“Hmm?”

“Do you know a pinky ring can mean forever?”

Jin grinned as he snuggled closer to the other. “Then that means we’ll stay forever since we both have it,”

“As friends?”

The other pondered about this for a moment and grinned again. “Nope. We were never just friends anyway…although I did say to Tat-chan before that we’re going to be friends forever because of it.”

“You remember,”

“Of course, now sleep,”

“Mhmm…”

Now that he’s grown a bit, he learned to care about his career, Jin Akanishi, his profession, his life, Jin Akanishi, his friends, his belongings and Jin Akanishi.

Author’s Notes:
O.O This has got to be the longest one shot I’ve ever written in one seating! Seriously! I was in the middle of writing Chapter 4 of Okaasan? when I suddenly opened a new MS Word Document and wrote this at once. Crap.

So what do you guys think? I think it was slowly apart from my real objective of focusing on the rings. In the end, this became an Akame timeline. xDD
