Summary: It started with the insults, then the witty comebacks and then the shared umbrella. But that didn’t mean he already liked Ueda’s company though, or has he ever seen the beginning?
Ueda was running late towards the KAT-TUN dressing room which was weird because he was never late. It seemed that he overslept last night which was also weird because he always wakes up on time.
Stupid alarm clock. Ueda thought as he continued on running up the staircases not even bothering to use the elevator, thinking that it would just make him slower.
A number of juniors waved and greeted him but he couldn’t even say hi or smile back due to his time. He continued on running and running and suddenly bumped into someone. That made him trip and fall over with his bag and some stuff inside it scatter.
“Ah! I’m really sorry, I’m really late you see and-“ Ueda apologized as he gathered his things but suddenly looked up when he finally knew who he bumped into. “Watch where you’re going, Princess. Not everyone’s willing to give you respect as much as you want,” Ryo Nishikido seethed but Ueda just glared at him in return.
“I’m not expecting to get special treatment from anyone, Nishikido.” Ueda said back. “Besides, I have more important stuff to do than argue with your meaningless comebacks again,” Once he finally gathered all his things, he continued running towards the KAT-TUN dressing room again.
“You can’t just say that to the Sexy Osaka Man, you know!” Ryo shouted back but Ueda didn’t say anything as he was hurrying up. The younger man just glared at the other’s back as he ran off.
Tch. Princess.
But that wasn’t really what’s going on actually. Ryo knew that deep inside, he only said that because he wanted to talk with the KAT-TUN leader more nicely but whenever he sees the older man, his own tongue just couldn’t stop to tell him other things than what he really wants. This of course, wasn’t being accepted much by the Sexy Osaka Man. No way is he going to accept that he…that he actually fell in love eventually.

“Ryo-chan, you’re late! Where have you been?” The NEWS leader greeted but Ryo just frowned at him. At everyone, actually. “The Princess slowed me down,” He replied and plopped down the couch.
“You mean Ueda-chan?” Tegoshi blinked as he plopped down beside his band mate. “Who else do you think doofus?” Ryo seethed but the other one just pouted.
“Hey, you’ve been complaining about him a lot recently. Are you okay?” Koyama asked as he fixed up his clothes. Ryo just frowned deeper and said, “I’m not the one with the problem. He is!”
Koyama just shrugged and said, “Okay then. Whatever you say,” He grinned.
“What are you grinning about?” Ryo asked, crossing his arms. “Nothing,” But Koyama kept on grinning as he got a bottle of water.
“Asshole,” Ryo cursed. “Koyama, don’t be a wuss,” Shige warned but then turned to Ryo. “What we’re saying is that maybe you’re starting to like Ueda,” He shrugged which made the younger one look at him pointedly.
“What? Me? Like that fish-lipped Gackt-wannabe? You gotta be kidding! I…” And the rant went on but the 5 remaining members just stared and blinked at him. “…just look at those hideous eyes and those totally not kissable lips and have I ever mentioned about his hair that is as ugly as his face!”
“Yup, he’s starting to like him, alright.” Shige remarked and everyone else nodded.
“I think he’s in denial,” and everyone agreed again as they watched their band mate rant and complain everything about the KAT-TUN member.
However, no matter how much Ryo try to convince others by saying all the negative stuff about the princess, he somehow can’t convince himself about all those things. I mean, sure he may be seemingly noticing many things about Ueda but that doesn’t mean he already likes him though.
Or does he?

Heavy rain fell from the dark skies and it was already getting late. Mostly everyone was already out from the Jimusho and what luck does he have to not bring an umbrella for emergencies such as this?
Ueda sighed. He even didn’t bring his car to work either so he has to commute all the way from work to his apartment, which was kind of far. Seeing as he has nowhere to go, he decided to just sit on the porch and wait for the rain to stop.
He stared blankly at the falling raindrops as he thought about what happened today. He was late, they had a show, kept on practicing and he was kind of out-of-breath from all those singing they had.
As he remembered all those things, he didn’t notice that he slowly drifted off as he leaned on the wall next to where he was sitting at. But if ever he did, he wouldn’t really mind that much knowing that there’s not much people left at the office anyways.
It was either fate or coincidence or just plain luck, either good or bad, that Ryo came out 15 minutes later from the building. He cursed the hard pouring rain and took out his umbrella. He felt his body heavy and he was too lazy to even carry an umbrella.
He sighed as he got out from the glass doors and was about to leave but he saw a pile of clothes sitting on the edge of the staircase. Ryo blinked at this and walked towards the said ‘thing’ and noticed ‘it’ was actually sleeping. He touched it slightly and moved some parts of the clothes and was shocked to see it was actually a person.
That it was actually Ueda Tatsuya!
The person who had been on his mind lately, complaining and ranting everything about him. His lips pursed as he continued to stare at the sleeping person in front of him. He was actually at lost on what to do as the other shifted and moved slightly. Ryo gulped as he backed away unsure of what to do if ever Ueda suddenly woke up.
He looked around to see if there was anyone else who could help him but when he looked at the time, it was already past 12 AM so no one else except remaining staff members were left and they won’t go home until later. Ryo sighed as he continued staring at the pale face in front of him.
Ueda’s pouted lips, his long lashes and his flawless skin made Ryo feel that he was actually staring at someone…beautiful. Like…an angel? He shook his head madly at that thought. He couldn’t like Ueda, he despised him. Or does he?
Looking at the princess right now made him feel that all those things he said and done, were just for show to start with. He didn’t mean it. It was just his nature to blow up on people randomly but Ueda was the unlucky one to be stuck with Ryo’s mean attitude for the longest time.
He bit his lip and sighed and finally thought it was already time for him to go home. Looking at the dark skies and heavy rain and back to Ueda again, he thought that he couldn’t just go home and leave the Princess at this time of night. Besides, looking like it, Ueda didn’t even have an umbrella so it’ll be hard for him to just wait for the rain to stop which doesn’t look like to be soon.
Following his conscience despite cursing himself to not do it because he’s been trying to convince himself that he doesn’t like the other, he stretched out his hand and shook Ueda, trying to wake him up. The latter moaned as he felt someone waking him up even though he doesn’t want to.
Fluttering his eyes open, he came to see Ryo’s face looking down at him and he suddenly gasped in his mind.
Okay, I must be having a nightmare right now.
“Oi, Princess, what are you doing out here in the cold? Why didn’t you go home? Don’t you have an umbrella?” Hearing Ryo’s voice, Ueda knew he was finally awake and rubbed his eyes tiredly. Although he must be out of his mind to actually think that Ryo actually asked him in a very concerned manner and even took the time to wake him up and tell him that.
“Ryo? What are you still doing here?” Ueda asked back but Ryo just frowned. “That’s unfair, I asked you first,” He replied. Ueda just looked down and said, “I don’t have an umbrella and am waiting for the rain to stop.”
Ryo knew about this and just stared at the other for awhile. “But it’s cold out here and I’m sure it’ll take a longer time for the rain to actually stop.” He said but the other was stubborn and said, “When did you even started caring, Nishikido? I’m sure you’re just saying that because I look so miserable and vulnerable right now.”
That hit Ryo quite hard. Tch. I’m already being nice to him but he’s the one who always got the problem!
“Anyway, I’m even glad you actually came and did this for me, Nishikido,” Ueda said as he stood up and took his things. “But seeing it’s really late and I have nothing else to do, I might as well walk through the rain.” He said and looked at Ryo with a small smile.
Even if it was a small smile, it actually made Ryo think that Ueda’s not that bad after all. He was the mean one in the first place, wasn’t he?
Of course not!
But seeing the Princess smile for a bit, it made Ryo feel that Ueda was the type of person who won’t think of problems like these as things that would block his time and life. Ryo sighed as he continued on thinking on what to do.
“I’ll go now,” Ueda bowed but suddenly was shocked when he felt a sudden grasp on his wrist. “What do you want this time? Haven’t you insulted me enough for this day? Why don’t you go and continue it tomorrow?” He seethed as he tried to pull away but Ryo frowned as he held on tighter.
“No, I’m not letting you go into the rain. You’ll get sick you know? And you know that you’re manager and Kame would give you an earful if you go to work sick tomorrow,” He said but Ueda frowned as well.
“I’m going to be fine! It’s only light rain, you know,” But the weather didn’t agree with him as thunder shook and made Ueda shut up. “Light rain, huh? Come on,” Ryo said as he dragged the Princess away from them and opening up his umbrella that was enough for the both of them.
“And don’t even try complaining that my umbrella’s too small or I’ll swear I’ll leave you in that porch again,” and Ueda had no retort to that but suddenly spoke up when he noticed something. “Hey, my apartment’s that way!” He said but Ryo just smirked at him.
“You’ll stay in my apartment for awhile seeing as it’s nearer. I’m not letting you get away with my umbrella now, am I?” Ueda was about to suddenly retort to that until the younger man spoke up again, “But I am nice enough to let you stay because I know you’re not in the right mind at this time of night to go home yourself when you could actually sleep all the way there. I’d hate to be the witness for you to go home alone,” Ueda managed to really smile wide at this and suddenly stopped walking which made Ryo stop as well.
“What now?” Ryo asked. Ueda smiled at him, “I…Thank you, Nishikido. I’m happy you’re doing this.” Ryo stared at him for awhile and it caused him to smile as well, “I’m not as bad as I am, you know.” He bragged but Ueda just chuckled and nodded at him.
But that doesn’t mean Ryo’s already falling for him though. Of course not. He just found something about Ueda which made him appreciate him better. Not that he already liked him before. Or does he?
-
It became an unwritten contract for them to actually go home together whether the rain is pouring or not. One would have to wait for the other for them to go home together. Ryo liked the feeling actually because maybe then, he might consider himself actually falling for the Princess already.
Thanks for last night, Ryo.
I’m really happy about it.
♥
Ryo smiled as he read the text message from Ueda. The other NEWS members didn’t get Ryo sometimes. He would be yelling at them but sometimes would be gentle. Everyone just shrugged about it until Shige suddenly said, “Thanks for last night, Ryo. I’m really happy about it. Looooove Ueda.”
Everyone else grinned while Ryo just looked at Shige mortified. “You looked at my inbox?!” Shige just smirked. Starting that day, everyone teased him about Ueda and how he actually likes him.
Okay fine, maybe he is starting to like him. But that doesn’t mean he already loves him though. Or does he? Ryo smiled. Well, maybe that’s already something he can’t deny. Maybe he does love the Princess after all. And he won’t be stupid enough to tell everyone about it first…for now.
You’re welcome.
See you later then.
Ü
…He’d let the Princess know first, of course.
