Most of the time, you can't. You just have to hope, and know yourself.

True, but it's when others pay for them that it gets especially difficult.

I'm sorry if that's the situation. It's never easy to deal with, much less supply the answer to that kind of a question.

I think I just have to suck it up and deal with the answer being "you can't know."

I thought that's what the "If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it still make a sound?" question was for.

Of course it still makes a sound. Something is always there to hear it.
