I'm going to try to multi-task and put all of this in one entry, but I'm thinking that it won't work. I'll have something to say before the night is out.
So basically everyone just sent me messages saying that they won't be on until later or not tonight. I think I just be alone right now. How boring, how tragic, and this is why you might be getting a long post from me. It's what happens when I'm bored. Sigh, sigh.
FIRST: Once we get to November, I will be taking part in the wonderful thing that is
NaNoWriMo. If you are doing it too, drop a comment and we can be NaNo buds. My name on there's scarlettatthedisco, so feel free to check up on me through the month and maybe we can even have some Word Wars. It's my first year, so I'll need loads of encouragement in the upcoming month.
NEXT: I saw this meme, and I kinda love them, so I had to fill it out. I TAG ALL WHO READ IT.
1) What are your top five favourite YA books?
- Mortal Instruments Series by Cassandra Clare
- Harry Potter Series by JK Rowling
- Looking for Alaska by John Green
- Paper Towns by John Green
- The Host by Stephenie Meyer
2) What are your top five favourite NON-YA books?
- Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell
- Pride&Prejudice by Jane Austen
- Wuthering Heights by Elizabeth Bronte {methinks...}
- Romeo&Juliet by William Shakepeare {though it's a play, I'm counting it}
- Can't think right now D=
3) What is your overall favourite genre of books, YA and non-YA?
I don't really have one genre I like. I like fantasy, but only ones like Harry Potter or the Mortal Instruments. I like when they take place on Earth and have that 'this is hidden from the world' kind of feel to them. I also like historical fiction and am into the classics like my listed non-YA books.
4) What is your absolute favourite book all time (if you had to pick one)?
GONE WITH THE WIND. No questions. I love basically everything about it. The writing style caught me right away, but I also love how Margaret Mitchell can make characters that you should hate because they really are horrible people, but she can still get you to care about them in ways you don't care about other book characters. The American Civil War is my favorite time period in American history and I can a history geek, but I especially enjoy the plot. It has so many twists and turns and every time I read it I connect something else and find something new. Another book like it will never be written.
5) What are your top three favourite literary characters of all time, and why?
- Scarlett O'Hara of Gone With the Wind. One shouldn't like this classic example of a selfish bitch who will hurt anyone and do anything to get what she wants, but I can't help but feel for her. Her character is so deep and you can tell the conflicts with herself. She has more problems in her own mind than the obvious problems of 'loving' Ashley, almost losing Tara so many times, and losing two babies among others. She's always pushing parts of herself aside and I always learn something new from her.
- Alaska Young of Looking for Alaska. Another one of those destructive characters who are their own downfall. Even if we don't learn anywhere near to all of what makes Alaska, Alaska we can learn so many things about her from the precious time we do have with her. What can I say, I love the destructive ones.
- Severus Snape of Harry Potter. I wasn't a fangirl from the start, but the Prince's Tale broke my heart in a million different ways and he amazes me. He protected the thing he hated the most because it was what he loved the most. The ultimate in irony and Jo at her best. I also enjoy the small references him in the books that people miss like how he told Lily about the dementors when Petunia was overhearing and Petunia's quote back in book five is "The guards of Azkaban. He was telling her..." LOVE IT.
6) What are your three favourite authors?
- John Green because not only do I love his books, but he has a great personality and is connected enough with his fans to go around and tour for them, make Youtube videos and encourage them.
- Jo Rowling. She's an inspiration to all and I adore her novels.
- Jane Austen, a fantasic writer who is still so loved after all this time.
7) Are you also a writer? If so what do you write/have written?
I am a writer. I have written half of a novel and plan to write another this November with NaNoWriMo. I usually write short stories and fanfiction.
8) What was the first book you remember reading and really loving?
Madeline when I was in Kindergarten. I was in love with those books. They were that thing that made me think 'Yeah, I want to write and share this amazing experience with the world'.
9) Would you be interested in having other friends on LJ that are interested in the same novels as you?
Of course! Calling all Gone With the Wind and Harry Potter fanatics!
10) What book(s) are you reading right now?
Friction by E.R. Frank
The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery
11) What book(s) are next on your reading list?
America by E.R. Frank
The Big Nothing by Adrian Fogelin
The Assasin's Accomplice by Kate Clifford Larson
What I Meant... by Marie Lamba
12) If you had to recommend one book right now on the spot, which would it be?
Gone With the Wind because every person should be able to experience the awesomeness that is GWTW, or Looking for Alaska for those who don't want to commit to such a large novel.
13) What are your other interests, outside of reading?
Writing, figure skating, roleplaying, other things
14) Anything else to add for people who may want to friend you? Uhm, Hi?
ADDING: That cut thing messes up my formatting and I'm not very good at all of this yet. My friend, Alexx, just posted a video on Youtube and her randomness makes me happy. xD
LASTLY: (for now, anyway) THAT'S ALL FOR THIS ENTRY.
HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY. <33
Love you!
