ok, i wish i could tell this to the whole world, but i guess i'll settle for telling it to the people whose friends list i'm on, which is mostly reciprocal so i'll HOPEFULLY see the results i'm looking for anyway because you guys are the only ones i read.

when you are commenting, clicking "reply to this" replies to the person's comment directly

yeah, the journaller receives an email. something like, "blahblah replied to another comment somebody left in your livejournal post." but still.

that's on my list of lj annoyances, along with some other things. muhahahaha.

well, cheez wiz, I had no idea it made that much difference :)... how would one know that, if one were not a major, everyday user? I just always figured, as long as the comment posted, that was the important thing:) Merci, alors :)

fair enough. it was awfully vehement for those of you who are NOT, in fact, "computery internet people." but most of the people on my list are, and the worst repeat-offenders of this particular "crime" are online all the time.

it just seems kind of obvious, you know? "reply to this" is there under every comment, but "post a new comment" is under the journal entry itself. so it seems like people might twig that the "this" in "reply to this" refers to the comment it's under.

anyway, i'm sorry i internet-yelled at you. but i'm not sorry i yelled at the people who actually do this. they ought to know better.
