Zombies! Fantastic!

Disclaimer: I am late to the fandom party as always. I know plenty of people have been here and done this, and I'm sure I'm not saying anything new or revolutionary.

Watching Dr. Who (the 9th) and *really* liking it. Just finished "The Unquiet Dead" and I think my favorite part is when the Dr. and Rose first leave TARDIS and are walking along and they hear the screams of the people witnessing the zombie during Dickens' recitation. The Dr.'s eyes just light up and he's like a little kid at Christmas. "Now were talking!" Heeee! The man loves his danger.

So far, 3 eps in, and I love the Dr.'s candor as well as his genuine sense of humor (and that sweet leather coat). His glee is my glee. The other thing I love is Rose's reactions and perspective to the events she witnesses. She has that great sense of rolling with it that most young adults have who still hold on to that air of invincibility and know-it-all-ness. But she also has that ability to recognize consequences and effects like someone coming into adulthood who realizes that in fact, they certainly don't know nearly enough. She's obviously a quick-witted, bright woman and you can see her appeal to the Dr. The depth of their relationship normally would seem to have come about too quickly, but I believe there are those relationships that happen and happen fast. Sometimes you just...click with someone (oops! Wrong show! Heeee!).

The last time I ever saw any part of a Dr. Who episode, I was pretty small, it was the doctor with the scarf and crazy hair and all the aliens seemed to be made of tin foil. What I remember beyond that is the theme music. So my knowledge of the history of the series is limited. I'm ok with that though. I think I'd rather not know too much in this case. I'd like to start here and just go forward. Looking forward to watching more tomorrow.

In other fandom-esque news I seem to still be stuck on Rodney fic after all. Oy. So need to stop with that.

A huge thanks to veritykindle for the Totoro rec. Girlie *loves* it. She also watched Kiki's Delivery Service, but it wasn't quite the hit that Totoro was. And Monkey seems to like chanting "Totoro" in his goofy little boy voice. Between this and her addiction to Star Blazers, I think she's going to be an anime junky before she's 10. Heee!

Wheee! Just got a Click 'n Ship from BPAL for my order of 13 and...oh crap what else did I order?...Venus! Yay!!

Going to bed now in hopes the boy sleeps through the night again and I can get a good solid 7 hours.

Night night!
