So.

According to Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman knows about Tumblr. Benedict knows about the fanfiction. Martin knows about the fanfiction.

Should I be worried?

I think in this day and age, it's unrealistic for us to think that the actors, writers, etc don't know about fanfic, tumblr and all of the other fannish activities. Case in point, look at Supernatural.

The actress who plays Adelle on Dollhouse apparently knows about the fanvids and the Adelle/Dominic ship. I can't recall if it was implied that she'd watched some vids or not.

To be honest, I don't think that they'd read/watch/etc the fannish activities or at the very least admit that they did. It also could get them into hot water if someone admitted to doing so, especially if it ever happened where an episode had anything remotely similiar to someone's fic.

Good point, very good point. And I think just me doing fic is probably safe. I just worry because I have an R rated sex scene involving Sherlock in one of my fics and I'm not too fond of it anyway and I'm all "Please don't let anyone on the cast read it."

I personally think that you don't have anything to worry about. I am sure that despite the R rating you don't wax poetically about someone's naked parts or anything like that.

Even if a cast or crew member of any fandom read one of your fics, I really don't think you''d have anything to be embarrassed or worried about. I mean I've read some things in the Supernatural fandom that has nearly left me scared for life. I can't ever see you writing something that would have the same reaction.

That makes me feel much better.

The SUpernatural fandom has some weird fans. If Jared and Jensen and Misha can handle their fans, I have hope for Benedict and Martin.

Pardon my language but Misha is the biggest fucking troll in the Supernatural fandom. Well aside from the writers that came up with the idea of bringing the fandom craziness into the show. Seriously, I love how pissy some rabid fans get when the show breaks that the fourth wall.

But yeah if the cast & crew of Supernatural can handle the craziest fans, I am pretty sure the Sherlock crew can as well. Then again I've yet to see anything in the Sherlock fandom that's terrified me.

(Edit: Yes the fans are quick but I meant rabid not rapid.)

I think that's part of the reason I love Misha, because he's a huge troll. I may not watch the show anymore but dear God I love watching the hijinks among the fandom.

Sherlock fans are low key, I think, with the exception of the Johnlock contingent. They drown out the Sherlock/Irene and Sherlock/Molly fans with their "IT'S TWU WUV" cries. I'm on about four Sherlock communities, and I swear, finding het is impossible. I have a better chance of finding gen fic than het. It's hard being a het shipper these days.

Yeah but Sherlock/John (Or Holmes/Watson has been around longer than you can imagine.

If you go to fanlore, there's speculation about the idea of Holmes/Watson as a couple since 1941 when someone published the theory that Watson is a woman. You can read more at the link if you want. So even though this isn't ACD's Holmes and Watson, it's only natural that the focus be on the ship that everyone loves.

But yeah, het and non!slashy gen is almost impossible to find. Heck try finding slash in that fandom that doesn't somehow reference Sherlock/John is impossible at times.

I am definitely going to check that link out.

I'm almost wondering if there's a het Sherlock community somewhere out there that I haven't found yet. Because I also kinda sorta ship John/Molly and Lestrade/Molly and I want to find fic of those pairings.

You might be better off trying to find a non-fandom specific Holmes group that allows fandom as opposed to one specific to Sherlock, if not you know my personal theory: if you create it, they will come.

OH yes, that's my theory. That's why wholockians came into existence. I'm going to look around a bit and if I don't find one I'll make it.

ETA: There is a community. Most people don't post there.

Let me know, and I'll join.

Well that sucks. Is it just pure het or does it allow gen as well?

sherlockhet.

Pure het. I'm still thinking of making a het/gen community though. I do see gen fic floating up at times, so they might want another place to post it.
