Just a bunch of random fandom things. I have a personal post to make, but I'll do it later. So...bullet points!
◦ I just finished the last thirty some-odd episodes of The Lizzie Bennett Diaries, as well as the Domino Demo videos. And I still have no clue how to write up Fitz's character bio for War. But damnit, I will try! But anyway, I totally loved the series. Oh my God, it was absolutely brilliant. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to prove that Pride and prejudice would work well with a modern adaptation. And more of you need to watch it so I can squee.
◦ Speaking of War, things have gotten interested. Apparently Death (the SPN version, not the Sandman one) is asking for a sacrifice. Kirk opened up with his whole deal on sacrificing for the common good, and now Armand is volunteering to be the sacrifice since it seems as though Death just wants to exchange places with someone (because Death seemed kind of interested in him when they spoke earlier). And as soon as Armand volunteered he started getting flirted with by a Teen Wolf character. Also, Kirk officially has a girlfriend in game, so this will be interesting. Like, they had the talk and were all "Yeah, we can use the boyfriend/girlfriend terms now" so that was fun. Next up he gets to officially meet his girlfriend's friends from Fright Night (Peter was eyeballing him the night he went out with lestrade for drinks where Kirk works). Also, Khan (who is pretending to be Sherlock) keeps commenting on Kirk's public posts (having Khan point out that Spock Prime made the same sacrifice that my Kirk made was especially amusing) and I haven't have Kirk freak out to Oswin yet about it because he's the only good guy in Lawrence who thinks Sherlock might be Khan. I need to do that soon. But it was really fun when another character who knows Khan is Khan had an extended conversation on my post, so now I kind of know Khan's thoughts/plans even though I'm not supposed to. That was a treat.
◦ Speaking of Khan, remember how I was all "OMG, everyone's going to hate my Star Trek Into Darkness/Sherlock fic because no one wants the Sherlock fans making STID about their fandom"? Well, the fic hit 700 hits and 17 kudos today, so I was worrying for nothing. Also, my pub AU is turning out to be quite popular as well, and "Three Days" is getting more hits/kudos than most of the newer stories in my "All of Time And Space" series. And speaking of that series, twice in the last week I've gotten a huge email from AO3 with kudos for most of the stories in the series, so apparently people still like it, even if the newer stories are not as popular as the older ones.
◦ I ordered "St. Trinian's" because I hate not being able to watch that movie since it and the sequel are locked up on my hard drive right now. I got it for about $6 buying it off of Amazon's Marketplace. Probably the best purchase I made with my paycheck, other than setting aside $27 to repay Lexi for the Transformers shirts she bought me and my son from Teefury (it's Optimus Prime playing with legos, which I thought appropriate for my son since he loves both). My son loves having matching fandom shirts with his mom (we have two others, the Doctor Hoo shirt from Threadless and a Despicable Me/Doctor Who mash-up shirt called The Minions Have The TARDIS).
◦ I am eagerly awaiting hanging out with Lexi on Friday because then I will finally get to watch Into The Woods. I had to babysit a hyperactive six-year-old the one time I tried to see a stage production of it. So this will be the fourth musical Lexi has gotten me to like. I really should make it a point to see whatever plays are being performed at both Palomar and Mira Costa this semester.
◦ And finally, the library I have the visits with my son at has a whole wall of DVDs that you can borrow for a week for free. Since I do not have cable I picked up the extended editions of "The Two Towers" (which I haven't seen in ages) and "Return of the King" (which I just watched the theatrical cut last week). I may have been nerding it up in my room for the last four days, enjoying the Battle of Helms Deep and the Battle of Minas Tiras to salve my bad days at work. Seriously, though. I'm eagerly awaiting The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, but I probably won't buy any of the Hobbit trilogy until I find out if there will be extended editions like with The Lord of the Rings. When I get a definitive answer then I will buy them. Wednesday I'm going to see if any of the libraries have season two of Sherlock so I can rewatch my favorite episode ("A Scandal in Belgravia") and finally watch the other two all the way through.
