Posted this on Tumblr, figured I would repost it here because I think this needs to be said instead of what I'm seeing on Tumblr (and possibly LJ, but I haven't checked). As a fan of crossovers, I have to say something. I see a lot of "No crossovers!!!" posts regarding the fact that Sherlock actors are in huge non-Sherlock movies with huge fan ( Read more... )

Now see, that's a good idea, too. And it's plausible. And now I kind of want to write it. ::nods::

I totally love crossovers. About 75% of what I've written since I left the Buffyverse fandom has been crossover fic. Some of it is between shows in the same series (like my CSIverse stuff, where I had this focus on NY/Miami crossovers) and some of it has no real relation to each other beyond them possibly being on the same network (like my Wholock stuff) or being in the same genre (like my Buffyverse/Supernatural or CSI: NY/Castle or CSI: NY/Criminal Minds stuff). And I have one series that makes absolutely no sense (it's Buffyverse/CSIverse/Supernatural and if I ever pick it up again I'm throwing Wholock in the mix). Crossover are just so much more fun to write than stuff for a single show.

And exactly! Part of the reason I stopped writing "When In University..." as fanfic and decided to make it an original novel is my Sherlock stopped sounding like Sherlock while my Amy kept sounding like Amy. Sherlock started sounding a lot more like Benedict and I was all "That's not what I want, even if it is pre-series."

Oh yeah, though I think his villain probably has much higher homicidal tendencies than Sherlock does. I just can't wait to find out what he's like. I know I was excited for the movie before but the trailer got me even more excited.
