Name: Aaron Price
Age: 33
Occupation: Police detective (on extended leave)
Symptoms?: Severe nervous breakdown, hallucinations, anger management issues, inferiority complex
Aaron Price was your basic police detective. Prone to defying authority with a few warnings here and there, perhaps, but nothing that would get him noticed. When he was 32 he was assigned his first big high-profile murder. At first, all went well; he put an impressive amount of time and effort into his work and stopped at nothing to get a result. However, as time drew on and pressure mounted, he started to change. All of his energy seemed to focus almost obsessively on one suspect (I can come up with a name if you need one).
Eventually, as the months passed and the case became more and more convoluted, he finally burned out and was put on leave against his wishes. Despite this, he continued working in his free time, building his case against the suspect. Former friends were alienated by the strange, quick-tempered man he had become. This behaviour was soon noted and checked by his bosses and he was put into a therapy programme, but nothing seemed to work.
Things finally came to a head around a year after the original case began, when Price's original suspect was allowed to walk out of a questioning. As a result, he suffered from a severe nervous breakdown and was classed as a danger to himself and others (particularly the suspect) after having bizarre hallucinations and identity issues. He was hospitalised soon afterwards. He's likely to have serious anger management issue warnings stamped all over his file, with particular references to certain 'triggers'- authority, justice/revenge, being helpless, and, more than anything, said suspect.
