I was going to start this one off by saying that VJs ((no, not the kind on MTV, the ones who do those pretty/trippy projections at clubs, raves concerts and fashion-shows)) VJs are not only so post modern without even trying, but are also one of the most ecological types of artists (not in content necessarily, or by their footprint, as computers do have a dark side) but by virtue of the fact that they make images (or often “appropriate” them) and then spend the next few months mixing them, mashing them together, working out jams, all the while re-using the images that they made the month (or months) before (or stole).
That’s how I was going to start off this plug for my friends’ DVD. But that’s silly because VJs want to (rightfully) get their work onto the small screens, where it could be enjoyed more.. but of course that’s going to mean plastics and shipping & handling, and more waste = ( …that being said, Eye Wash Volume 2 just got released and I have decided that I’ll let you in on the little secret: Aside from the fact that Eye Wash is the longest running and most grooviest VJ/AV event in new york city, and aside from the fact that a lot of the people on this DVD are people I have played with and or know, and like a lot as people as well as killah VJs, this is a DVD unlike anything you have yet experienced, and I think you want to get your eyeballs on a copy of this.
Mixing all sorts of images, sure to bedazzle and astound, this disc features twenty of New York City’s finest VJs mixing and remixing beautiful imagery to original music that floats from IDM to ambient… get a taste of the cutting (Visual) edge in The City!
