....of solar wine, that is. According to the Lodi (California) News, the North Davis Road Vineyard, owned and operated by the (obviously) very bright David Lucas, is now maker of the world's first 100% solar powered wine. According to the article Lucas put 160 solar panels on top of the old barn he has converted to a winery, knows it will amortize in about a decade, and is not worried. The vines aren't going anywhere, he says. Actually Lucas is full of quotable gems, like how he describes the drive to go solar: "the vines have always been running on solar power, now I'll have a winery that runs on the sun." you gotta love his moxie. and a hearty cheers to that!
