I don't think anyone even reads my journal, but I have some minutes at work to spare and thought I'd at least document where I'm at in my life right now.
1. Residence
I have finally gotten out of the shit hole that is Norfolk! I am currently living out of a spare room in my brother's house, which is getting a bit old...but, in two weeks I move into my brand new giant and isolated rental home in the Charlottesville area. The house is amazing and the rent is ultra low and it sits on 7 acres of woods with a private lake at the end of the property. I do not see any other houses from the yard. I imagine that this place will be very conducive to my creativity level. There is so much natural beauty here in the mountains and peace and quiet and safety. Having lived in the heart of the ghetto for the last 4+ years, it is a very welcome change.
2. Employment
I left my job at Trader and am now testing video game software used in video slot machines. This job is seriously sweet. I make 40% more than I did at the other job. AWESOMENESS! The people at this job are cool as hell and it's very laid back. Did I mention no dress code? Do you have any idea how nice it is to be able to go to work in a Decapitated shirt and camo pants instead of a blouse and slacks? I work evenings which is a big change for me, but it's 4 day work weeks which I am really learning to appreciate.
3. Band
Kind of on hold right now until we get all of our band equipment in one location. We haven't practiced in a while because of the moving process, but I'm hoping we'll be able to jam a bit in my new place. Having two members of the band live 2 hours away is a challenge that I'm anxious to see the outcome of. Being that they are Brandon's brothers, I think we can make this work. I would say we will be back up to gigging within the month. God I hope so, I really miss performing on stage. I am dealing with withdrawal symptoms right now... *sigh*
4. Brandon
I'll keep this section short, but things are great with B-Dog. He rules and keeps me sane and is a hot guitar player with long hair. I'm quite content. It's tough to only have been seeing him on weekends for the last month, but we're managing. It'll be like 9 years in January that we've been together, so this separate time is really no big deal.
5. Friends
Well, this section is brief because I don't have many. That sounds awful, but it is by my own choice. Living out here now, I hardly know anyone aside from my family. I've got a few pals out here and they are pretty cool so hopefully now that I am settling down from the transition I can be more social. I've got a good friend in Richmond that I don't see nearly as often as I should and I feel bad about that, but we do get to spend time together on occasion. In leaving Hampton Roads, I really only left tons of acquaintances. I don't let people close to me or into my life because, well, I honestly despise and am annoyed by most humans. I still go back frequently to hang out with Shelley because she is still friend #1 for me and I don't see that dynamic changing any time soon. We actually just flew to Florida together this past weekend to go to see CARCASS!!! at the Florida Death Fest. What an amazing show. Hot as hell that day though, like 100 degrees with full humidity. We had a great time and totally didn't take pictures because we are dumb. I take it back, Brandon got a picture of me feeding hotdogs to a pit of alligators, but that is it.
6. Tattoos
Just got a new sweet piece of art done over at Fuzion in Norfolk. It is an image in black and grey of two stag beetles locked in combat. I am so in love with this tattoo. The artist did an AMAZING job and I would like to think that I'll have pictures of it up soon. Next on the agenda would be around Christmas time and it is going to be a drawing by Escher of a mobius strip with ants crawling all over it. Very excited about that I am. (<- Yoda speak) Brandon is going to get the image from the Sepultura Arise album cover as his next one, and that is going to rock your face.
7. There is no 7.
So that pretty much sums it up. Things are going so well in my life right and and I am so thankful for all of my good fortune lately. If you actually read this, I thank you. If not, well, screw you then! All my effort for naught!
