Floor.

So, anyways, the floor... We finally got around to getting a new floor installed in our kitchen. We set up everything and then the guy came to install. It was supposed to be one day, however after he finished installing the subfloor he rudely asks "can i see the thermostat?" Abby shows it to him and he says meanly "why isn't it at 68?" First off, we never keep our heat that high- it's unbearably hot for Abby and me. He said that we were told to keep our house at 68 24 hours prior to the installation and 24 hours after installation. So, anyways, in short, he did not finish because of that.

So, a few days later he was supposed to finish starting at like 9am, 11am rolled around and he still was not there. Abby called and the place played dumb "we don't keep track of the installers" or something. So after a while they called back- he's running late. Wouldn't you think tehy woulf notify us if he was running 2 hours late? So, later he came and I knew he would not be able to get the vinyl floor in the side door, but he tried for 15 minutes. In the process he knocked our shoes allover the place and made a mess in the hallway- he did not clean it up. He comes up to me really mean and just says "shovel for me, why don't ya" or something. As if I was supposed to know what he was talking about- but I did know, he wanted me to shovel the sidewalk to our front door-- and I did.

So anyways, he installed the floor and did not say a word to us. He made us sign something ald left- not explaining anything. So, the next day when daylight came in the window we see many problems. First off, the seams of the subfloor were showing through various places and there was a large scratch across a tile. There's also a large hump near one of our archways because the doofus did not level the subfloor! We also have a problem with how the tiles start near the main hallway- half tiles to start- that's an eye sore!

So, we called the place and they said they'd take care of it, yadda-yadda-yadda and that's all fine and dandy, but we have to have the entire floor and subfloor ripped up now. Probably another 3-4 days of inconvenience all because the guy did not a) check the level of the floor and use levelling compound and b) seal the seams in between the plywood of the subfloor correctly. GAH!

He was a rude fucker too, short, mean, moody and did not even ask us things like "how do you want the tiles to start?"

idiot, floor, house
