Heh. Watermelons? Fruit must be a popular wish.

Wish? You think it's wishing that brought this about? That's odd...I certainly didn't wish for...not that I mind, but...

So, you got fruit as well?

Well thats how the falling star legends go, right? Wish on a shooting star, and when it lands, your wish will come true.

...I mean it didn't exactly look like shooting stars, okay. But that's the first thing I thought of.

I found fruit from my home island. Shaped like a star. Destiny Fruit, or Paopu. They're in our legends, too.

The wishes never came true though. It was just a legend. This is definetely more games done by the so-called Sneaky Group.

Never heard of it, sounds tropical. You have legends about fruit?

Games? I don't see why...are they just chucking toys down at us, then?

Yeah, if you share one, your destinies become entwined. Its sort of a....couples, or a blood brothers, kind of thing. A promise. A pact.

Apparently. All I've found that I recognize from my world specifically are toys and sweets anyway, haven't seen anything really useful, aside from food.

Ah, that type of legend. Those don't come true either. What do they taste like, the fruits?

Well of course not. If they take our powers away, then why would they give us anything useful. No, they're just cramming sentimental things in, to hope we won't go crazy and ruin whatever weird experiment they're playing at here...

Damnit, I want my power back. It would make protecting people so much easier.

But it's a nice thing to do, at least. It's a way of saying something that means something. I've never actually tried one on my own, its bad luck to eat a Paopu by yourself, and I'm saving this one right now till it's ripened up a little and the timing's right, but I'm told it tastes like a mix of mango and pineapple, and a little bit like passionfruit.

Sounds like the most likely theory.

...And what was your power again?

Hm. Maybe when you're a child. Are you planning on sharing one with your girl, then?

...That's an odd mix, but it sounds interesting. I could risk a little bad luck.

Vaati and I are real fed up. He's furious that Harriet's gone.

Darkness. I could control it. Use it like an energy. Push things back, make my attacks stronger, and make things afraid. Command some of the lesser heartless. You said yourself Dark magic wasn't so bad, just people were ignorant about it, right?

Yep. If she'll agree. I don't think she's ever eaten one before either.

...Do you really want to be alone forever?

More missing people. We're more like toys to them than anything else.

Yes I did...if you're truly interested in getting your powers back, you should talk to Dr. Simon, I've heard he's been doing some...research into it. You might want to be careful how you describe your powers though.

Good luck.

...What? Of course I don't--well, I'm hardly alone. They're are more people here in the Marshall St. apartments than anywhere else in the city, aren't there?

Yes! And I hate it! I swore I'd never be anyone's toy or puppet, ever again!

Dr. Simon? Oh. Hm. So that's how they're working at it...How, how should I say?

No, no, not like physically alone. I mean like never finding anybody out there for you. Like a partner.

Me as well, and yet here we are. And helpless to do anything, if they have anything to say about it.

I doubt he'll work with you if he believes it's true Dark Magic, I don't think he's all that open-minded. And be careful how powerful you make yourself sound, if you could ever be considered a threat.

Well we just need to dig in and find them. We'll get more clues, I'm sure. Once we've totally recaptured that hospital, and see how they bring people back there.

[Private]
Well right, but how should I say it? You know the Marshall Street people much better than me. Should I just tell them there might be more monsters around Gohl, and that we're really gotta be at our best to protect them, Namine and the girls? Say something like that? Tell them it just makes like a forcefield, so it sounds more harmless?

I guess so. Sorry for you, old man.

You think it's actually in the hospital? If they controlled the monsters, perhaps...but otherwise they'd be in as much danger there as anyone, wouldn't they?

[Private]
Protection, yes, as selfless as possible. Make yourself seem useful.

It doesn't really matter. Not like I had much luck with the girls before. And I can deal with being alone.

Maybe. That's where you go when you die and come to life again, right? Of course they control the monsters. If they can control taking our favorite stuff from a million different universes and sprinkle them down on the streets from the sky, I don't see why they couldn't control the monsters too.

Look on the bright side. Maybe an ugly, desperate, middle-aged girl will show up for you, one of these days?

Monsters are a bit harder to control than objects, presumably.

...That's a great comfort, thanks. Somehow I think I can do without.
