I'm reading this huge book (it hurts my arms to hold it) titled Kristin Lavransdatter, about a Norse woman and her family in 14th century Norway. It won the nobel prize for literature, and it's absolutely beautiful. It basically chroncles her life from when she is a little girl to her death. I've just started, I bought it today. The imagery and the way of life that is so vividly portrayed makes me want to live in that time and in that area of europe until i remember that they didnt have toilets or soap. Sigrid Undset, the author must have done an incredibly large amount of research, since it was written in the early 1900s. I love Norse names. They sound like glass, or the crunch of pebbles. Ulvhild is one of my favourite names. If you have the patience for long historically driven books, this is the one for you.
