As parents of children in the SCA what would you like to see more of at events or made available within your Youth Program as a whole for your children?
This. Knowing ahead of time what general kinds of things *might* be on tap for the younger crowd and when they *might* happen would be a seriously fast way to get me to far more events. Something in the event schedule that is slightly more insightful than "11:00 to 4:00, Children's Activities" would be a huge helping hand. That tells me that around noon real time someone will have something to do for people under the age of 18 and it might either last for as long as 5 hours or be available during those 5 hours. The adult schedules sometimes include timelines for various parts of martial activities and even A&S stuff might list something such as an hour for set up, hours for public viewing, and hour for judging, and that sort of thing. Saying that there'll be a story time at this hour, an art activity at this one, a game time at another and a rough age group for those would be simple divinity.
I could at least then make a semi-educated guess as to whether or not I'm going to need to bring a sitter or if I'm going to have some time when someone else will distract him long enough for me to hear myself think for a couple minutes and regroup. If someone else is going to break up his day for me, he won't be so antsy, you know what I mean?
