Possible copyright infringement?

Because I have a serious question:

Tonight, as the husband and I were in the Wal-mart, we were walking by the men's clothing section and saw a T-shirt with calligraphy on it.  I stopped to read it (because I'm a geek thankyouverymuch), and noticed that the writing was the partial text of an SCA scroll from the Barony of Windmaster's Hill in Atlantia ( Read more... )

OMFG. I am *appalled*. I'm going to spread this to my Barony, if nothing else the copyright for the scroll itself really stands with the scribe and I don't recognize the work.

Agreed. You should have physical proof in case Corpora wants it.

I disagree about buying the shirt. Why give $$ to people who may have stolen the design to earn said $$????

On the other hand, maybe the scribe sold the art and is happy to make a few rubles.

A. Important part here: "stealing".

B. No, we don't all still shop there. Some because of our principles and some because the goods they sell are shit.

C. Are you not aware that you can go to a t-shirt shop and have a shirt made with your barony's name on it if you really want to?

Did I call you unprincipled or ignorant?

I will now, if you'd like, but I don't feel any particular urgency about it.

Well, thank you very much. I'm told I'll feel better in threeish years. But that has nothing to do with me correcting you: seriously, not everyone shops at Walmart. If you think they're evil, it's more than likely that you have a choice about shopping if you really care enough to stop.

The "one does not simply walk into Wal-Mart"?

Yes--give credit to whomever I credited. :)

I can make out enough of the wording to read that it was from the A&S Champion's scroll that was given out in September of A.S. 33.
That might help you track down the artist and owner of the scroll. (Of course, if they don't mind that their work was used, I could also buy one and send it to you guys, just for giggles. :-)

If you could hold on to one for us, I would be most appreciative. We're contacting our Sensechals and folks, and we'll track down who may have made the scroll.

(Thanks, The Very Unhappy Baron of Windmasters' Hill)

No problem.
Although looking at it now, it does say "November" it's just they chopped the word up so that the "Nov" is separated from the "ember".
