Quasi-political rant

So, my disclaimer here is that I'm not getting into whether or not Sarah Palin is qualified to be the VP. I'm still doing my own research on her background in politics, because I take everything the news & print media says with a BIG grain of salt, because the days of unbiased reporting are long, long past.

But that said, I have to admit I'm one of the women that is definitely fired up about the sexism that's flared since Palin was brought into the mix. I mean, how DARE someone imply that she can't be a good mother and a VP? As has been said more times than I can count, when was the last time someone voiced that concern about any male candidate? Not for Obama, not for Bush, not for Clinton, etc., and they all had school-age children when they ran and/or were in the White House. And then to add insult to injury, to have a WOMAN be one of the worst culprits to make such statements just really pisses me off. If that doesn't fly in the face of everything women have worked for for the last hundred + years, I don't know what does. If you disagree with the woman's political pedigree or ideology, okay, fine. But question her ability to mother? No.

Oh, and as far as the issue of her daughter being pregnant, come on. Even "perfect" parents (which I'm not saying she is/was) can't fully control an older teen short of locking them up 24/7. I mean, does anyone remember being 17? I do. I'm also the parent of a daughter approaching the teen years and I shudder at the memories!!
