I have a dream

I have a dream that someday I’ll make something so accurate that it gets mistaken for an actual antique/vintage garment. This is why I go into excruciating detail in my analyses of vintage garments - so I can copy it exactly. I notice that the articles examining vintage garments in somewhat less obsessive detail then mine get more/higher ratings on Your Wardrobe Unlock’d then mine do. I find this disheartening, although I completely understand. Obsessive detail is hard to read. I play with the idea of reducing the detail in my papers…. They’d be faster to write - but I’m not sure that I’d find them as useful or as rewarding if I did that.

I don’t know if my inclusion of patterns in my more recent articles will improve anything or not. After all, who am I trying to be, Janet Arnold? (I could wish…!) Taking patterns off of complicated garments is extremely difficult. The more I do it, the more I marvel at her skill. The idea of anyone using my patterns the way I use hers is rather awe inspiring actually. And intimidating -- I do hope I get the patterns right! Is it possible to double-check them without making the garment?
