The whole family except Aunt Donna, who had a concert, and Molly, who had a better offer, came to Carla's new house last night for a birthday party for Emma and Isaac. They still haven't sold the big house, but the kids were ready to move already, and they've been there for 10 days. It's beautiful. I like it way more than the big house. It's not so tiny, and it's all remodelled with classy appliances and draperies, but the best thing is that it's all kind of centralized, like all the bedroom doors feed into the same square of hallway, and from the dining room you can see all the rooms on the ground floor. The other house was great for getting away from each other, but this one is all about being together. I hope we get to have more parties there. Carla was quite overwhelmed by this one-- I did at least half the cooking, and she was very grateful.
I decorated 2 cakes. Emma wanted cheerful and Isaac wanted sewer. Sewer with a slime monster, greenish black and purpley black. Isaac wrote a story about his party before it happened, and most of us were in it. He said I was the best artist he ever met. He said he liked Aaron too much. He got a video camera from all of us for his present-- I gave him a moleskin sketchbook and markers with a finepoint side and a brush side too-- and he was very happy.
