My Chen Taiji is getting better. Jia seemed really surprised.
Also, I am _starting_ to be able to distinguish all four tones in mandarin, although the rising tone is still giving me fits. It either sounds like any of the other three tones, alternately. It's just freaking invisible to me.
Is there a mood in english that can be equated to the rising tone? Falling tone sounds like someone being petulent, dipping tone sounds slightly questioning, and high level tone sounds like -- well -- an odd, out of place, high, level tone.
