I can barely stop laughing to write this.
I bought three book shelves. I helped my husband carry them inside - they were very dense and heavy. They were not what I thought, so I ask him to load them in the car tonight to return them. Just then my daughter's hunky new boyfriend, that we're meeting for the first time, pulls up in his Camaro. Daughter asks him to help with the shelves. I think, phew, the two of them will be able to load them a lot easier than if I were helping. All of a sudden, husband is able to heft them himself, even one armed. He told me later he had considered carrying two at a time. No way was he going to let the wippersnapper make him look like anything less than Mr. Strong Daddy-Man.
It was hilarious to see his need to be thought of as just as strong as the sixteen-year-old. It was right out of a sitcom.
family,
darling daughter
