1.What did you do in 2004 that you'd never done before?- Moved to Canada,
applied for my first real research grant.Fencing, softball, bellydancing
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?- Cant remember if I made any? Probably and ill probably forget them too.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? My hussey of a cat
4. Did anyone close to you die? Yes
5. What countries did you visit? -Moved to canada and “had to” go to san deigo for a conference
6. What would you like to have in 2005 that you lacked in 2004? -more time to myself to relax, read, chill, sew and actually enjoy myself.
7. What dates from 2004 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? -My leaving party and getting on the plane - just as the plane left the ground.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? -Starting my first big grown-up post-doc job

9. What was your biggest failure? -Letting things get me down before I left the uk oh yeah and my stupid attempts to convince myself i was straight - lol
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? -only general tiredness from overworking.
11. What was the best thing you bought? -A plane ticket to canada
12. Whose behavior merited celebration? -My friends for their support over a very tough start to the year, eps alabastamamasta, T+H, Kat etc
Also am very very proud of Ms Sally for the way she has worked so hard and her successes this year. I know it’s been a hard year work wise for you too and I admire your will power and drive.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? -After a 2 year relationship being dumped over the internet. Then being ignored. Not that it wasn’t expected but disappointing anyway.
14. Where did most of your money go? -Relocation costs and in my mouth.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? -moving, new country, new job, new project, new people.
16. What song will always remind you of 2004?-Strawberry switchblade- Since Yesterday
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? Much Happier!
b) thinner or fatter? A lot fitter
c) richer or poorer? Poorer but only in monetry terms but that will be rectified soon. I have now moved into a lovely massive appartment in front of lake Ontario just across the park from where i work. Its worth the money. I also got my first pay rise already (7K in one go - yippee!)
18. What do you wish you'd done more of? -Spent more time with some of my friends before I left the country

I probably should have got drunk less but I had to make up for the last 10 years.

24. What was your favorite TV program? -soccer central on fox - the only way I get to see my beloved spurs over here is to pay hideous quantities of canandian dosh to get digital cable. Unfortunately the matches are at 10 am so im having trouble selling the concept of beer, curry and footie to the canadians
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? I don’t hate anyone anymore . If I don’t like someone they arent worth the energy hating. Although i am dissapointed in some people.
26. What was the best book you read?- The other Boleyn girl (phillipa gregory) and
Degen and regen of the NS (Ramon y Cahal)
27. What was your greatest musical discovery? laura Pausini
28. What did you want and get? a relatively peaceful life and a lovely cat.
29. What did you want and not get? -honesty from a certain person and not as much sleep as I would have liked. Oh and a naked gwen stefani
30. What was your favorite film of this year?Amiee and Jaguar/Shaun of the dead.(made me feel homesick)

36. What political issue stirred you the most? its okay to kill hundreds of innocent people with bombs but shock horror! Not gay marriage - it will lead to a moral downslide……Mr Swarzenniger/bush - may all your kids be gay!
