"KNUX!! Oh, man!" Arms outstretched, have a large polar bear skipping in your direction. "The mail wouldn't have reached you before I did, and I couldn't wait! I COULDN'T wait to get back here, see the place again.. and see YOU!" He lightly punched Knux's shoulder.

"How've ya been, bud?"

"I've been.... uhh... well. Up and down!! You've been getting my letters, right?"

Screw shoulder punches, Bark. You get the one-armed Man-hug of Hyphenated-Justice!

"Yeah, bud, I think I have. Though I think some might have gotten lost in the mail. The jump between the tones in each letter seemed to jump a bit, so I figured mail to the Aurora Icefield is just not top quality." He shrugged it off.

"Anyway, important thing is that you're back. Let's go to the Cafeteria - one thing that ain't changed is Nancy still gives extra portions to football teamsters, and YOU still count."

"That sounds great," Bark said emphatically, rubbing his gloves together in anticipation. "It HAS been a long journey here, after all."

"OH, but at some point after, I need to head to talk to the Hands about reinstatement. They should be in their offices still, right?"

"Yeah! They're just where they've always been, no real changes there. You see Crazy Hand around nowadays a lot more than Master Hand. He works a lot out of the school... doing what I'm not sure. C'mon, let's go get some food then catch up."

He started walking toward the cafeteria. "So, what you been up to, man?"

"Oh. Crazy Hand. I've got to admit I'm not too big a fan of that gu-- thing. But I'll keep my feelings to myself. I'm sure I wouldn't want to jeopardize my chances of getting back in."

Bark was quiet for a moment to gather his thoughts.

"Let's see... I took care of my mom for the longest time. It was hard, y'know... She didn't recognize me most of the time. Every now and then, she'd become a bit lucid, but those were fleeting moments, I'm afraid. Blaze was a big help; she was very supportive and... you know... helped me through the rough patches. She came back here, um, for reasons she'll have to tell you. Or maybe she did, I don't know. But then she came back, and... things weren't the same. I missed her, and I still love her, but people change, I guess. She said I'd become too .... ... after my mom died, and while I thought we could still make it work, I guess she didn't. I'm still not sure what happened."

He looked at Knux and sighed.

"I guess..." He scratched the back of his head. "..you never forget your first."

"Yeah... I'm sorry man. I asked her already if she knew you and it was a big ole Nope. I gave her the information about you and her, and some of her other friends and stuff... but she's not from the same time line. Not much to be done about it.... I can.... um... y'know. I can see how thatt'd be... painful."
