Bark almost dropped his bookbag as he ran up to the boggled-looking cat. He did not need to be reminded of how much taller he is than she, and neither did she! Right? Because she was the Blaze he knew and loved? Right? And she was already familiar with how big he was?
"Blaze!" He waved at her as he strode right in her direction. "Blaze! It's me! Bark!! Wait up!"

"Um... yeah, you should. It's me, Blaze. Bark! Bark the Polar Bear! Your..." His smile slowly melted into a look of sad disappointment. "...boyfriend..?"

"...Oh! Oh... Knuckles told me about that," she explained. "I'm sorry, but... I'm not your Blaze. I just arrived here."

"You're not? How is that possible? You look..." He resisted the urge to step closer and touch her arm, since it had been so natural to him in the past. "...just like her."
He kicked a rock and twiddled his thumbs a little.
"I just arrived here, too. ..Again, I mean. I used to be a student here a while ago. Do you need help finding anything?"

She hesitated. She wanted to say no, that it would be a terrible idea given the past relationship he had with an alternate version of herself. But experience with Marine taught her that being blunt tended to have the opposite effect she wanted. So she tried to be a bit more tactful. "If you could... point me to the headmaster's office?"

"Ah. Straight ahead along this path." He gestured down the sidewalk they were standing on. "The first building there is the main office, and they can set you up with appointments with the Head Masters if you haven't one already. If you do, then... um, well..."
He outstretched his hand nervously.
"Good luck, and I'll see you around. All right?" He smiled at her.
