Gabriel updates

Hi all, Sara again, thank you for thoughts and prayers. We have a long road ahead. I took an early discharge from St. Mary's last night (when I would have otherwise left Fri or more likely Sat with a c-section) so I could see Gabe in the NICU. His EEG yesterday wasn't good, showed pretty much all seizure activity instead of normal brain waves. However his heart is okay, lungs okay, kidneys okay (he started to pee). But still worry over liver damage, and we don't know what the long term neurological complications will be. Today they want to take him off the ventilator to see how he does breathing on his own, and we'll also speak with the neurologist. Our families are coming in from out of town to visit. We continue to hope and pray that he'll improve, but the long term prognosis is still unknown. Worst case scenario, we may need to make the decision to take him off the machines. It's a choice no parent should have to face.

After miscarrying twins last summer (just over 1 year ago exactly), it's a hard, hard blow to get through an otherwise healthy pregnancy only to discover your baby may have had a cord compression in utero :(
