Travel, woo

It's been an exhausting couple of weeks. But before I get into that, let's talk about

NOVEMBER

I'm going to be visiting my mom's family near Pomona for Thanksgiving, and Wednesday/Thursday of that week (the 21st and 22nd) are pretty well occupied. But I would like to hang out with peoples while I'm in town. I can either come earlier in the week or stay later. What works better for you?

So yeah, long couple of weeks. I've been working a lot, saving for a new gaming tower. And a friend lost her son-in-law at the recent Batman theater shooting, and a client lost a friend in the Pakistan bombings the same day. People do crazy and stupid and violent things; we've had that for as long as we've had people. Oddly enough, one of the things I found most frustrating things about the Colorado tragedy was the panic, agitation and unforced utter dumbfuckery in the media. Seriously, this isn't the time for a rant of this nature, but if there is ever a large crisis, do not look to cable or television news networks for guidance. Their sloppiness may get you killed. Find the website of the office of emergency management of the county you live in (hopefully before any crisis hits) and figure out beforehand what to do, where to go and whom to contact.

I've been buried in the most convoluted background check I've ever done, which I can't talk about. So that's fun, or something.

I finished Deus Ex a couple weeks back. So, at this rate, I'm only a little more than a decade behind in video games. I'll catch up one of these days. Anyway, Deus Ex is a great game and very influential on several different genres to come.

Off to bed. Have a good rest of your weeks.
