She took Dawn so easily. Once she knew, the moment that damnable snake got back to her… Once she knew, it was a matter of minutes. Dawn was gone before Buffy could even begin to fight. “She’s not your key!” she shouted from the rubble, leg bent the wrong way, blood pouring from side. “She’s not your tool or your portal, she’s not yours!”
Glory looked at Buffy helpless, then at Dawn hanging limply in her arms. “Huh,” she said. “You sure about that, honey?”
The next day, swaddled in blood-spotted bandages, the very picture of Glory’s wrath: “Get her back.”
He nodded by reflex.
She wasn’t looking at him. She was muttering, “Oh god, she’s gone. She’s gone and I can’t even stand.” He made to move to her, but when she saw his shadow coming over, she looked up sharply and said, “What are you waiting for?”
It’s nothing less than suicide but that’s no matter. She’s said it. He’ll do it.
