There’s treasure, and then there’s treasure.
Spike’s held the first kind - priceless antiques, gaudy gems, kings’ ransoms. Held it and lost it, without caring one bit. Well, maybe losing that one gem hurt. But none of it ever mattered to him, not really.
This treasure... this treasure is beyond compare. He’ll hold on for all he’s worth; never let go, never not appreciate.
He runs his hands through strands of gold. Gazes into emerald eyes, tastes pearl teeth, sips from a ruby chalice. With a blissful sigh, he works his way downward, cataloging riches that are his and his alone.
