Timeline: Becoming, Part 2. Ghost!Giles witnesses the swordfight between Buffy and Angelus. This story follows my earlier AU story, Integrity, and will probably make more sense if Integrity is read first.

Oh, this is marvellous!!!! Your scansion's so fluid and the whole thing has a wonderful elegiac, funereal quality, which is perfect for Giles as he goes. I think my favourite bit is the internal rhyme of:

Foe of our foe makes not trustworthy friends,
yet I rejoice to see her rally. Please,
if there is any mercy, let me fade
before this battle ends.

I have a massive soft spot for occasional rhymes in pentameter, and this one really brings out the need for ending, I think.

And I love how you've used the prompts!

Eee! *claps hands* I'm so glad you liked it.

I love internal rhymes too. They serve so well to underscore without making the rhythm too heavy -- it's easier to dance when wearing slippers rather than hobnailed boots. *g*
