Chapter 5
Yuko stared at the ring and then stared at Jun’s eyes. She is speechless beyond words and she feels a bit light headed. She massaged her temple trying to release the headache that she feels right now.
“Dame?” ask Jun and in his eyes portrayed sadness.
“No, no…it’s not that,” Yuko said. In her mind, she is trying to grasp everything just happen and how she feels about it.
“It is just that…ermm…it is happening so fast” Yuko said and taking a deep breath before continuing. “It is not like I am happy about it but I am worried about you and your career,” Yuko explain again. Jun nodded and sits beside her.
“Johnny-san knew that I will propose to my girlfriend, I already gave him some notice,” Jun said while looking at Yuko. She can see that he is speaking the truth.
“Yuko-chan, if you worried about my career, I can assure you that nothing bad gonna happen to it because Arashi, me and the rest of us have been really hardworking and we do bring profits. Johnny-san even told us we can go on with our normal lives if we want,” Jun explain again. Yuko nodded her head and think again. Jun shifted himself so he is sitting behind her and wrapped his arms around her. Yuko lean her head towards Jun’s shoulder and relax.
“Are you sure about this?” Yuko whispered. Her finger tracing Jun’s hand and she can feel that Jun’s hugging her tighter. He nods his head and buried his head on her neck while kissing it lightly.
“You do know that I’ve been in love with you for so long, so I don’t think this is fast. There is nothing I need more than this,” Jun said. He placed his chin on Yuko’s shoulder and listening to her breathing. She looked like deep in thought and Jun decided to wait for her. Out the corner of his eyes, he can see a tear slip out from Yuko’s eyes. Startled, he turned Yuko around to face him. Yuko immediately wiped her eyes and hugged Jun. Jun immediately hugged Yuko back and holds her head closer to him while caressing her hair.
“I’m happy…I’m so happy but I’m worried about this. What will your fans think and what if this thing gonna affect your career. I will blame myself,” Yuko said while burying her head deeper into Jun’s chest. Jun laughing a little and kissed Yuko’s forehead.
“So, if my fans think that we shouldn’t marry, we shouldn’t? ask Jun, joking a little but she can feel Yuko nod a little but uncertain about it. After a moment, she shake her head.
“So, you do want to marry me?” Jun teased her. Yuko pinch his waist lightly while Jun’s laughter ringing in the room.
“I take that as yes?” Jun continue teasing her but when she nods her head Jun is shock. Jun’s ahnd lift Yuko’s head so that he can look at her eyes.
“Really?” Jun asked.
“Should I say no instead?” Yuko asked back. She smiled teasingly at Jun. Jun immediately shakes his head and hugged her tight.
“Jun! I can’t breath!” Yuko said while trying to free herself from Jun’s tight hold. After loose his hold for a bit and apologizing, he continue hugging her. Yuko hugged Jun back and listening to his heartbeat. She never feels this happy before but tonight is the happiest day of her life and she hoped that it will last forever.

Yuko have been keep fidgeting as she stands inside a waiting room. Today is the day Jun and Yuko will announce their engagement in a press conference. She didn’t really understand all the things that will happen and she just hope that she doesn’t have to talk but she knew it is impossible. She will be marrying one of the popular idols in Japan and the press will asked a lot of questions. At least that is what everyone kept telling her. A knock on the door startled her and the door open to reveal Aiba and Ohno together.
“Yuko-chan~” Aiba greet Yuko and strolled inside with Ohno. He hugged her and then released her before Ohno hugged her also. Ohno pat her back lightly as if to comfort her.
“Nervous?” Ohno asked softly. Yuko nodded and smiled brightly at them.
“Yuko-chan, you look so beautiful!” Aiba compliments her. When she arrived, a set of professional makeup artist and hairstylist have been hired to prepare her for the press conference. They even get her an outfit to wear. It is a purple sundress with a spaghetti strap. It was simple yet elegant for her. It fit perfectly on her and she wondered how they knew her size.
They decided to sits on the couch while waiting for other to arrive. Arashi’s manager and a few staffs already crowded the waiting room and it making Yuko more nervous than ever. Sho, Nino and Jun joining them after a few minutes passed by. Jun sits beside Yuko while holding her hand to calm her down. Jun look dashing in white shirt and black pants complete with a jacket the same shade of purple as her dress.
“The dress look good on you,” Jun compliment her. She smiled at him and thank him.
“Jun choose that for you,” Nino suddenly explained.
“Ehh~” Yuko said and look at her dress again. No wonder it fits her. Jun has been personally choose this dress for her and for that, she is thankful. Jun pat her hand and smiled at her. He fiddled with the engagement ring on her finger. She could sense that he also as nervous as she is. A staff come forward to them to brief a bit on what should they do, how they going to face the press and other few stuffs. Jun asked a lot of questions to the staff and after the briefing ended, he explaining it again to the rest. After a few moments, the manager signalled to them to get ready and everyone standing to check on their appearance for the last time before headed out from the room.
In front of the conference room, they stand according to their positions. Ohno will be the first one to go inside followed by Sho, Jun, Yuko, Nino and lastly Aiba. Yuko takes a deep breath and she feels like she can hear the clock ticking away every second. After the MC announce on their arrival, they moved forward to the conference room and take a seat at the long table. Cameras keep flashing away, taking their pictures. First, all Arashi introducing themselves and lastly Yuko make her own introduction. Beneath the table, Jun hand grasp tightly on Yuko’s hand before he take a deep breath to explain what this press conference is for.
“First of all, I am sorry for taking a bit of time from your busy schedule and thank you for taking your time to be here. The reason for this press conference is actually to announce my engagement with Akiyama Yuko, the one who sits beside me right now,” Jun said while gesturing to her with his other hand. The moment Jun has finish talking, the reporters bombarded them with questions. The MC tried to calm them down and gesture one of the reporter to ask again.
“How long is it Akiyama-san and Matsumoto-san have been together?” the reporter asked.
“We actually has been known each other for over 9 years and been friends since then. You can actually called us childhood friends,” Jun said, joking a little. The rest of people in the room laugh a bit at his joke. He take a bit of breath before continue. “We have been together as a couple about 6 months already.” The reporter nods his head and scribbling something at his notebook. Just as Jun finish talking, lots of arms went up to be allowed to ask questions and the MC points at one of the reporter.
“How the rest of Arashi feels about this,” ask the reporter.
“Well, we know Akiyama-san as long as Matsumoto-san did and we are happy for them that they decided to be together and get married,” Sho answered the reporter question.
“When will be the official date for the wedding, Akiyama-san?” ask the next reporter. Yuko take a deep breath and she can feels Jun squeeze her hand to give her some courage. She smiled and answered the question.
“Well, after a few arguments, Jun…I mean Matsumoto-san finally let me decide on the wedding date. It will be official on August 30,” Yuko pat herself in her mind for answering the question quite smoothly.
“I’m sorry if this is a bit personal, but what you called each other?” asked the reporter, jokingly. A teasing smile displayed on his face.
“Yuko-chan,” “ Jun-kun,” Yuko and Jun answered at the same time accidently. They laugh a bit at their carelessness and the rest of peoples joined them. After a few more questions and answering, the MC announce that it is the end of the press conference. After thanking them for their time they stand in front of the press for the cameraman to take their pictures and then headed out from the conference room.
“It’s finally over ne,” Nino said while draping his arm around Yuko’s shoulder. Yuko only nodded, agreeing with his statement. After arriving at the waiting room, the rest go inside but before Yuko can follow them, Jun pulled her away from there and headed to Arashi’s dressing room. He immediately open the door and pulled Yuko inside. After making sure he locked it, he immediately hugged Yuko very tight and she can feel that his body tremble a little.
“Jun-kun, are you okay?” Yuko asked. Jun didn’t answered her question but he tighten his hold on her. There are nothing Yuko can do than hugged him back. Jun suddenly lift his head away from her shoulder and start to kiss Yuko on her lips. Shock at first, Yuko didn’t respond but after a moment she start to kiss him back.
Jun push their body until Yuko’s back lean on the wall. Jun placed his hand on the side of her neck while his other hand around Yuko’s waist. His thumb caressing Yuko’s throat slowly and deepen the kiss. He break the kiss only for a moment to take some breath and continue kissing her. His tongue swipe onto her lower lips, as if asking permission to enter and Yuko allowed it. His tongue enter her mouth, tasting her sweet taste and finally, he suck a bit on Yuko’s lower lips before breaking the kiss. Yuko’s face flush with reddened cheek and she is softly panting for breath. Jun lean his forehead towards her forehead and stared at her eyes while panting for breath too.
“What was that for?” Yuko asked, whispered softly. Jun grin a little and kiss her nose.
“I need to release some tension and nervousness,” Jun answered, a teasing smile appeared on his face. Yuko rolled her eyes and shove Jun lightly but Jun already wound his arms around her waist. Jun peck on her lips and kissed her forehead.
“We should go to them, are you okay?” Jun said, releasing her a bit to look into her eyes. Yuko nod her head and smoothing her dress from imaginary wrinkles but before that, Jun kiss her the last time and said I love you. Yuko just smiled and replied the same.
Jun unlocked the door and open it while all of the sudden four grown-up man tumbled down and fall onto each other directly at Jun’s and Yuko’s legs. Nino, the one who on top looks up to Jun and Yuko, grinning. Jun raise his eyebrow while Yuko just shake her head. Being a sadistic creature, Jun never lose a chance to hurt others, so he decided to get out from the room and use his members as some kind of bridge. He stepped on their bodies and staying there for a while to offer his hand for Yuko to take while making sure that he deliver all his body weight to them.
“Chotto! Itai yo!” Nino shout while Sho, the one below Nino grunts in pain. Yuko takes Jun’s hand, about to step up too but change her mind. She walk a half circle around the four guys body before getting out from the room. Jun gracefully leaps from the bodies onto the floor and both of them walked away. The four guys start to get up and sitting on the floor.
“Remind me not to eavesdropping on them again,” Sho said while stretching his back.
“At least don’t get caught,” said Nino while checking for any damages that been done by Jun to his body.
“Jun is scary and his punishment is scary too,” Aiba said shuddering.
“Yuko is scarier, she almost step us with her high heels,” Ohno said and start to pray, thankful to whoever makes Yuko change her mind from stepping on them today. Everyone wiped their forehead and joining Ohno to pray.
